Hi everyone,

After months of research and thinking, I want to finally pull the trigger on buying a fancy yellow diamond. This is an engagement ring for myself (already been engaged for a few months and I'm lucky enough to design my own ring), and I intend to put it in a Victor Canera halo setting.

The main contender is below. I saw it in person and like the dimensions and color a lot. I was told it was eye clean, which I suppose is subjective, but I saw the inclusion (as a black pinpoint) if tilted at certain angles. We placed it in a sample setting and the inclusion was less visible, but still there. It's just too bad it's right in the middle. I am really not that bothered by the inclusion since it takes some searching to find it (my fiance couldn't find it except when viewing through the loupe), it's small, gets lost in the sparkle, and not visible unless relatively close to it.

Otherwise, is this diamond a good one? It's around 12k. Is that a good price considering the size/placement of the inclusion? Any red flags raised by the GIA report? I like cushions better than radiants, and thought I liked larger facets versus "crushed ice," but was told that the latter tended to hold better color. I'm tempted to go with this one given its price and face up dimensions. Help! Thank you so much!

Sorry I know -nothing- abt fancy yellow diamonds but am commenting so this thread might get seen by some one who does.

Fingers crossed.
=)

We need more pictures of the diamond. The one you posted looks like it is taken at an angle, so we cannot see anything at all about the facet pattern, etc. We need a straight, head-on shot.

Fancy yellow diamond – cool!
The price seems very low.
Based on your description, the carbon spot is visible to the naked eye. That would explain the very low price.
Without having seen the diamond firsthand, no one can truly advise to accurately about the specifics of the stone.
The spot, do you think it would bother you?
