Hi, Pricescopers! I'm hoping someone here might have some helpful info/advice. My husband and I are gearing up to do charitable contributions for the year, and of course, as we find each year, it's overwhelming in terms of the amount of need in the world, and the amount we can afford to contribute is, well......underwhelming. We have a bit of a go-to list that we typically contribute regularly to that usually includes some split between animal welfare (and/or wildlife conservation) and more human-centered concerns. However, this year the humanitarian crisis in Yemen is weighing extremely heavily on me - so many innocent children on death's door. I would like to contribute as effectively as I can to aiding them directly, but I'm not aware of any group that, so far, has been able to effectively get aid to them. Are any of you aware of such a group, or have some wisdom/insight into how I can most effectively help them from where I sit in Ohio?

How wonderful to look for such a group! I don't know of any, but will keep my eyes open. Hopefully someone here is familiar with one.

Thanks, folks!

No tax receipt for it, but this year I decided to help individuals who seemed to need. A few weeks ago I was in the eye doctor's office and overheard a man telling the lady that he didn't have enough for his eyeglasses. He looked as if he really needed help (poorly dressed) but he was cheerful. I anonymously bought his glasses. I tried to do several things such as this this year. No tax receipt is the only downside.

I love this!

I do what @ceg does. It is tradition.

If it came to it, then Doctors Without Borders & The Federation would get me to dress up for them.

@ceg and @AV_. Its people like you that make this world a better place to live in! And OP, wonderful effort you are making!

We make traditional contributions, my husband does free or low cost treatment for patients of his choosing, and I "help" our cleaning lady's niece. She is a sophomore at uva. First in her family to go to college. Worked with her on her applications.....taught her how to interview. suggested she apply for quest bridge.....she did..... the college counselor at her school (catholic) didn't know about quest bridge and was too lazy or too stupid to do her job. Only wanted her to apply to ny city and ny state schools. I suggested private schools with significant endowments and top flagship state schools. She did, and was accepted at all the schools she applied to with the exception of the Ivy's. And....she is thriving.
