Let me start out with I am very new to gem stones. I am deployed to Afghanistan and I found a blue Diamond that is in the .5 to 1ct. size range.I would say it is in the fancy light to fancy range in color. I want to know if theres any way I can check here in the field if its real or not. I have a gem tester and it says it a real diamond, and I also found a test were you can shine a UV light on it and it should put out very dark blue or purple light, but I don't know if that true or not lucky our maintenance guy have one for checking leaks on truck if it is. Also what would a fair price range be for it. the local wants 1,100 dollars for it but I see on the internet where blue diamond go for 5k +. I just want some advice on how to tell if its real or not cause that a lot of money to spend on a pice of glass if you know what i mean.

It may be a real diamond but it is most likely an irradiated color, or not a natural blue diamond. Natural blue diamonds all have GIA lab reports on them as they are very expensive stones.

Usually the irradiated stones that have seen are not light blue, but rather turquoise and deeper in color. It is a huge gamble but natural blue diamonds are VERY expensive and rare. There is a YouTube video on how to test to see if it is a real diamond. Here is one but there are others:
