Hello and thanks in advance for any advice you can help with!

My boyfriend recently took me to look at rings and while we were at a jeweler, the guy brought out a couple of diamonds for us to look at. We've looked at them before and I try to scope out as much info as I can so that we dont get taken advantage of, but we happened across a diamond that was unexpected. Usually I would be against SIs because I had normally assumed you could see all the inclusions. Well, I had been shown a couple and spotted everything even with the loupe. Until one came out..

The Specs

.90Ct
F Color
SI1 Clarity
Very Good Cut
X/VG Polish&Symm.
Inclusion: Feather Finish

HCA Calc: ALL Excellent, the score it was given was 0.8

Now, once I was shooed away so my boyfriend could talk about "details" I forgot to ask for the GIA Report #, so I cant unfortunately share that with you, but hope the info I provided was at least somewhat helpful. Standing up against an E, I noticed NO color difference and it was actually significantly bigger looking then the same size (.9ct) triple X E stone I was looking at (and $1500 diff!) I also want to note that when looking at the diamond (even with the 10x) I could not even find an inclusion which actually made me a bit nervous.. I closely examined the surrounding edges and didnt see anything except a couple of white flecks more to the center but barely even noticeable. My question is should we go for it? Their price was 5600 for it, which seems a little high after doing a bit of research? I dont want to pay too much for it and I also dont want the durability to be an issue (I plan on wearing this sucker everywhere!) I've read the forums and whatnot about feather finishes, which has helped comfort me a little but any and all advice you can give is much appreciated!

Thanks again! :D

Anyone, please?!

We need more info to be able to tell you anything at all. VG is a very wide range - we can't tell anything about reason for cut grade demerit without the report or scan or (super clear) pics from a variety of angles.

Seems over priced to me. You can get an EX/EX/EX hearts & Arrows around .90, VS1 I for the same price at James Allen. Also, here is one that is EX/EX/EX and NOT branded H&A, that is less than the diamond you listed (with similar specs):

Perhaps it is worth it for you to the few hundred to work with a local vendor. That's just personal preference.

I think it's funny that you shooed away your BF when discussing the details...seems like he should want to be included in that, but, hey, what do I know?

I was shooed away, because they were asking when he was looking to buy, and he doesnt want me to know when hes going to propose. Thank you for the info on pricing, I agree. I looked at BN, whiteflash and JamesAllen today and found a variety of triple Xs at .9ct, so I mentioned to my boyfriend to maybe look around instead. The jeweler has a band I am particularly fond of, its not rounded but square so its part of the reason we are wanting to work with him, plus my bf likes working with local business.

As for more details, I am going to give the jeweler a call and have him email me the info and I will post more about it then. The issue is I prefer a better quality grade then SI but I dont feel like my knowledge alone is enough to not justify not getting one if its a good diamond. I also am only interested in G-D, and our price range goes all the way to 6.5k-7.5k. Im just going with a simple solitaire setting with 6 prongs so its not like they cost too terribly much. I just want to get the best quality and most for our money, any advice on what I could get would be helpful.
