Hi - I would greatly appreciate some qualified advice in selecting which of these stones (a) is the best and (b) represents the best value - might be separate answers. I want something that is eye clean for sure and then just want to find the best combo of size, color, etc. in this general price range. I''m a little leary about buying on line but on paper they seem to seem to offer more for the money than the two I saw in person (also attached) which is why I''m looking for help. Thanks in advance.

Have seen in person

Prefer #1 of DS.

#1 and #2 of BN looks promising too.

All have potential apart from the last diamond from BN. Which of the DS diamonds did you prefer?

Thank you to you both for your quick replies. As for the question, I thought the first one from DS looked a little nicer in terms of sparkle and maybe color. However, the nice thing about the second one was that it was wider and shallower for it''s ct weight which made it look bigger in the setting (they told me it looked more like a 1.75ct in the setting).

ya, #2 has better spread, but sacrifice fire for it. #1 is a more standard cut, nice balance of fire and brightness. Depends on what you want.

You have a good eye to discern these differences, this is the info I gathered from the proportion sets. It depends on your preferences, to me the first is the better balanced stone but go with the one you prefer.

Thanks again. I had some concerns that it was SI1 instead of VS2 like the ones on BN but it sounds like I shouldn''t be too worried about that based on your feedback / review.

I just input the specs from these into the Cut Advisor on this site and it looks like the first two from BN come out higher rated than the first one from DS. Should this being taken into consideration? Just want to get the best one but tough to say since I can''t see the ones from BN...

No, the cut adviser is only a rejection tool. DS should be able to supply you with the IS/ASET images, if those check out, the stone will be fine.

No, a higher score is not better than a lower one, the HCA works by helping you determine which diamonds score below 2. Those that do are then deemed worthy of further evaluation, this is done with images such as Idealscope. So you can see really the HCA is not used for selection but rejection.

You are in a unique position by being able to see the DS diamonds in person if those are your two main contenders and you have 2 well cut diamonds to choose from.

Thanks. By "higher" I actually meant "better" so they actually had a lower score than the ones from DS. Although, yes it is nice to see DS in person.

It looks like the one from DS generates a 2.6 in the cut advisor tool.

Since you can see the DS stones, and DS has IS/ASET scope, request for their use to see if leakage is present. If those scopes are present, no need to be stuck with the HCA scores.
