Hi Everyone!
I am new to this forum, and need some advice regarding my SI2, 1.19 ct 2A I-colored Brilliant-cut diamond.
First, some background: This is the stone that was set into my engagement ring several years ago. It is a nice diamond, well-cut, lots of fire. My problem with it is that there is a large, clear inclusion in the top 1/3 of the stone that travels almost 2/3 across. I discovered this flaw the day after Dh proposed (it is very easily visible to the naked eye), and I was devastated. We returned to the jeweler from whom he purchased the stone to see about trading down to a smaller, higher quality diamond, but he had nothing that appealed to me. My greatest regret now is not speaking up and asking Dh to get his money back so we could start over from scratch, but I didn''t want to hurt his feelings. Both DH and this jeweler assured me that the 2A cut made it a quality stone.
Anyway, over time I became allergic to the white gold this diamond was set in, and have not worn it for some time. DH now has told me that I can have it re-set in some family gold that I inherited for our anniversary. I am heart-sick over this diamond and would much rather sell it than have to look at it for the rest of my life, and I have told DH this (in a nice way), but he is not really hearing me.
The advice I am seeking is this - IS this a quality stone? I have taken it to be cleaned at different jewelers, and have been told more than once, "there is a CRACK in your diamond!" which just made me want to die. I have attempted to take a pic, but my camera does not have a sufficient enough zoom to capture the inclusion.
Please help, thanks so much in advance!!
