I purchased a .574 ct, SI1 (eye clean), I color, ACA round diamond from Whiteflash. Now I need to pick the setting. I have narrowed it down to 3 that I like and are in or around my budget. I want a setting that will make my small diamond look it''s best and possibly biggest. Please give your opinions, I am open to other options as well.

Tiffany 4-Prong Platinum

Sleek Line 18k White Gold

Flush Fit 18k White Gold
Will the smaller diamonds that are better in color make the yellow stand out in my I color diamond?

Thanks in advance.

I like the looks of the legato. If I get that it would have to be in white gold, so it would be worth going for the better looking ring in gold than the tiffany in platinum?

anybody else have any opinions or advice?

It depends. Does your girlfriend have a strong preference for platinum over WG? If not, you could definitely go for the WG setting instead (I, too, prefer the look of the legato). If you or she decide later that you'd rather have it in platinum, you could upgrade the setting metal and it would still be the same design

What does your gf do for a living? If she is rough on jewelry and work with her hands a lot,the sturdier the setting the better. I am a potter and there is no way I could wear the legato setting without losing it (although I think it's lovely). I vote for the tiffany one.

I love the 'Legato' Sleek Line setting too and out of all the settings, it would make your diamond (which sounds beautiful!) look its biggest. However, I do hear you on the price difference. It depends on your personal preference. For me personally, I'd go for the platinum tiffany setting because I want a platinum ering and it's within your price range. If your gf doesn't have a strong preference for platinum, then I'd go with the WG legato setting.

legato hands down!

Ditto.

Nothing wrong with WG, it''s more of a personal preference thing.

My gf is fixing to start nursing school and waits tables at night, she usually doesn''t wear jewelry to work so it won''t get damaged to much. It wouldn''t matter to her one way or another concerning platinum or gold. I plan on upgrading in the next year or two as soon as I get done with school and get a good job. I think I am liking the looks of the legato over the tiffany.

Thanks for everyone''s input.

Seriously, if you are thinking of upgrading in the next couple of years, I''d go with the lain tiffany setting in white gold for like $180! Save your money for the dream setting once you do the upgrade! But for a long term setting, I like the Legato sleek line.

I'd go with the Legato then! It's going to look beautiful. I hope you post pictures when you get the ring! We would love to see.

ETA, good point DS! If you plan on changing the setting in a year or two, I'd get the WG tiffany setting. Lost, do you plan on upgrading the diamond AND setting?

Yeah, I will be upgrading both more than likely. I would love to get her something closer to 1ct, but that is not in my budget for another couple of years. I like how the lagato sleek line gradually makes the transition from ring to head. I think that is the winner. I will absolutely put pictures up once I get everything, it will take me another month or so to save up for the setting.

Definately letago over the tiffany 4 prong. Just a much more elegant setting IMO. I''d take a WG letago over a plat 4 prong tiffany if it was me.

I like the legato also.

There is nothing wrong with the WG, especially since you are planning an upgrade...

Good luck!

thank you
