hi all,
just feeling a little anxious and i could use some moral support. after months and months of searching for the perfect setting to reset my original diamond into, i was 99.99% sure i had found it in a ritani three stone. ideally, i coveted the craftsmanship of mark morell, who is within driving distance to me, but i wasn''t confident going through the custom process. when a reputable PS vendor submitted the mold of the ritani i liked to me, and i realized it really did capture every element i wanted, it was time to take the plunge.
well, i got it back last thursday and i was (mostly) thrilled. the prongs on my original solitaire were yucky, and with this new reset they were gorgeous. i thought my DH had secretly upgraded my diamond because it was even MORE beautiful than ever! however, the profile had several little issues and one side diamond was a tad higher in color and had a more shattered glass effect than the other. when i spoke to the vendor, he was great, he didn''t hesitate, just said send it back and i''ll take care of it, he''d only seen one other instance where ritani didn''t live up to its name in workmanship and they stepped up. but we didn''t thoroughly review all of my concerns as he is a busy guy (we didn''t and still haven''t discussed the difference in the side stones so i don''t even know where we stand on that)!
well, we had a little glitch in my returning the ring but it appears it is in fact safe and sound. i am pretty anal, and sent a very detailed email of the concerns i would like to see addressed since we didn''t go over them in person thoroughly. initially he indicated a new mold would be made, but today i got the impression that may not happen. i''m no expert so i don''t know what is better, but certainly a new mold is comforting. sadly, it seems one detail i loved about the mold cannot actually be replicated, but i am ok with that so long as the profile of all the prongs are uniform and look like the ones that were pleasing, not the bent ones. and of course there are things that were great about the first submission, such as even prongs, centered shank, etc. that i don''t want to see change and i''m scared that a redo offers an opportunity for these things to be off.
anyway, i''m just a little stressed that this ring could come back worse, or that even with some fixes, not all will be addressed or others will crop up and i may still be a bit disappointed. i had hoped by going with ritani i would pay for and recieve a high standard of workmanship (quality is in the details) but now i''ve got this pit in my tumtum that maybe it won''t work out as well as i had hoped.
eh, at the end of the day if these are my worst issues to deal with, i am the luckiest gal on the planet (which i am!). however, i could just use a little ''hang in there, it''ll be ok''.
