Hello,
I have had moderate to severe nausea for the past two days. I have tried munching on saltines and sipping ginger ale to no avail. Are there any home remedies anyone cares to share? I am feeling 110% awful and cannot bring myself to leave the house

If I feel this way on Monday I will call my doctor but I''m not sure I can make it till Monday feeling this way.

Any input would be helpful.
Thanks.

Sorry you''re feeling like this, it''s horrible.

Two suggestions - tiny sips of peppermint tea or ginger tea then when you can face food, something very bland and light, like some plain boiled rice.

Um, second suggestion is a pregnancy test (sorry if that''s inappropriate, but the only time I felt nauseous was in my first trimester).

Hope you feel better soon.

Jen

Options:

1. Chew a little piece of fresh ginger
2. Sip a fizzy drink (like orange juice mixed with sparkling water)
3. Go and puke

For morning sickness, ginger anything is great. You can try ginger altoids, some of the girls swear by them.

I prefer lemon drops. Something about the slightly sour seems to ease the quease.

And, some people say a soda helps. Not sure how...

Good luck. I know how miserable it can be!

Thank you. Not inappropriate at all...I **hope** I am pregnant.

Awww good luck! My dad had me try cola syrup once. It''s a little gross, but not too bad and seemed to help a little. It just came in a little bottle and was basically flat, concentrated coke.

Aww, that sucks you''ve been feeling this way for 2 days now. Sadly, I don''t have any advice besides the ginger ale. That''s what always helps me. I know I''ve had a prescription for a drug that is supposed to ease nausea. I can''t remember what it''s called but hopefully if it doesn''t go away, your doctor and prescribe you something.

You don''t have to suffer, you can go to the ER and they should give you something for it I would guess. Definitely you don''t have to wait until Monday and besides if you are pregnant maybe you want to be careful about what you take??

I wish I could throw up..I have never been able to make myself vomit. My body refuses to cooperate with me

I had my husband run out and get ginger root, I am feeling a bit better. I think everything that I have tried is safe, no drugs or anything. If this has not passed by Sunday am I will go to an urgent care clinic.

If the nausea is because you are pregnant, then I don''t think that urgent care or ER is going to have anything for you.

My sister found out she was pregnent because the minute it happened she immediately began getting sick, 24/7. The only reason the ER helped her, was because she was so physically ill they had to constantly put her on an IV to replenish her liquids.

I would take a pregnancy test.

I''ve never been pregnant, so if that is causing your nausea, I don''t really know what would help. But when I am nauseated (other than peppermint or ginger things), the only thing that helps is drinking a lot of very cold ice-water. Also, sometimes reflux can cause nausea and things like Tums can help, if that''s the problem.

Crossing my fingers for a pregnancy for you, and hoping that you feel better soon!

When I was pregnant I had awful nausea and the only thing that helped me was sucking on crystallized ginger. It actually tastes really good, but I can''t stomach it now because it reminds me of that.

If you''re not pregnant then Gravol works wonders, but if you could be pregnant, take a test first! There is a point during pregnancy when it''s okay to take it but I *think* it''s after the first trimester?

Hope you figure it out soon!

Try keeping a lemon wedge with you and smelling it when you feel nauseous.

If you''re not sure if you''re pregnant, there''s an easy way to make yourself puke - go brush your tongue with toothpaste. Always worked for me, still does lol.

I''ve heard of ginger, as someone mentioned, but I''ve never tried it. I''ve always heard (and tried) flat soda, and that helps, but others have recommended fizzy soda. If it''s really bad, then I reach for meclizine, which is an anti-nausea medicine (prescription). I hope you feel better Fsu!

Not sure why you''d go to urgent care for a possible pregnancy. Try ginger products or the bands you can buy at the pharmacy (you wear them on your wrist) and while you''re there pick up a pregnancy test.

Yikes, just reading that makes me want to vomit MP! I always get a little wild and make myself gag when I brush my tongue. Ack.

Sour stuff worked well for me when pregnant-sick. Apples too. Small amounts of apples munched throughout the day.

If I''m sick-sick, I do crackers and sip warm Pepsi or Coke. And put a little salt in it.

Mylanta or Pepto sometimes helps, pregnant or not. Bananas are good for pretty much everything, so might be worth a try.

Constipation can make you nauseated too..if that''s the case, apples should help with that as well.

I hope you feel better fsu! Being nauseated is the WORST feeling!

I''m NOT pregnant...just took a test

. Which makes me more concerned about this....Thanks ladies for the input/suggestions.

Ginger Beer, Peppermint Tea and Charcol Tablets though the last one you can''t take to often as they zap your nutirents however they do work

Sorry your feeling sick hope you get better soon :).

I get nausea when travelling.. my mum showed me a pressure point on my wrist, put something round on your wrist and then tie it up with a band of some sort.. the pressure relieves the nausea.

I''m pretty sure you can buy pressure point kits for your wrists specifically for nausea, my friend used them when she was pregnant and it helped.

I believe even pressing your thumb into the middle of your wrist can help.

Don''t be too down about the pregnancy test being negative too, sometimes you can be pregnant but it doesn''t register.. esp on the home tests.. that''s what happened to me!!

Non-diet pepsi usually helps me a bit. Perhaps it''s just a virus running its course. When I was a nanny I had several stomach viruses that just resulted in severe nauseau for several days, whereas the kids were vomiting. Also something that has no cure but rest and fluids. Hope you''re feeling better soon!

Sorry you''re disappointed. If you can get ahold of a real coke that should help too.

For non-pregnancy nausea lemon slices and crystalized ginger and peppermint tea help me. Those have seemed to help a lot of my pregnant friends too...

The one thing that helps me when I'm feeling nauseous (aside from throwing up) is breathing slowly in through my nose and out through my mouth. I have a touchy stomach and the breathing really calms my stomach down when I feel sick.

ETA are you actually throwing up or are you just feeling nauseous? When I had a terrible bug and couldn't stop throwing up I went to an urgent care place and they gave me a shot that made me feel better almost immediately. (Unfortunately the shot goes in your "hip" which really means your butt...so if you go that route be prepared!) I hope you feel better soon!

Thing2of2-
I am not vomiting, at this point I honestly wish that I was..I think that would bring relief. I have had a pretty nasty virus in the past (3 years ago) where I was vomiting, etc. I went to an urgent care and was treated with an inter muscular shot in the bum as well. It sounds like it was the same thing that you were given. Strangely, I don''t feel that I have a virus as there are no other symptoms aside from nausea. I am just so happy that this day is almost over and am hopeful that tomorrow will be better.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback--

Ditto and by real she means regular brand Coke...at least I think, that''s my cure.

If you are not feeling better soon, go to an urgent care or ER at hospital.
Nausea can mean many things. Have you changed or increased any medications lately? Don''t be surprised if they start off with an EKG.
A sonogram of the abdomen might be in order, checking for gallstones.
Feel better.

Ditto the going to urgent care if it doesn''t get better soon. Have you hit your head or anything like that recently? If so, please do go to the hospital asap as it could be something serious.

If you are really suffering, perhaps call the doctor on call at your doctor''s office. Most larger offices usually have one. I often get very nauseated from migraines, and I take promethazine (Phenergen) or odansetron (Zofran). I believe they prescribe both of these medications to pregnant women, but please mention to your doctor that you may be pregnant and make sure it''s safe.

It also helps me to focus on breathing slowly, in through my nose and out through my mouth. It sounds simplistic, but I seems to help me stop gagging sometimes.
