It's gross, you should have seen the performance, 2 women scissoring on stage. Yes children should be in bed but what about teens seeing and hearing these lyrics. Our society wonders why we have such issues with sex, drugs, etc. this is a contributing factor, same with the video games.
Just plain vulgar, I am so disheartened about our world today.
 
While we didn’t watch the Grammy show, our 14 year old son did. Needless to say I am rather horrified that he saw this performance.

With that in mind I’m sure he may have or will in the future see things like this or worse from kids with phones at school or on the bus. Probably the best thing that can come out of this is an open dialogue about it. It would be nice if kids could watch the Grammys or MTV awards without this concern. You know like back in the day when the worst you had to worry about was Madonna humping the stage in a wedding dress.

Realistically, today’s teens have seen worse. They have the whole internet at their fingertips. When you were a teen, were you easily influenced by music videos? I remember when they said Ozzy Osbourne was influencing kids to commit suicide. I could never relate. It’s just music and performances. It’s up to parents to raise their kids to know better.
 
I did not watch the Grammies. I have watched the original WAP video. I agree - that’s not a video that I think should be broadcast as part of an awards show.

But as a video that someone searches for on their own... that’s a whole different story. I didn’t see it as gratuitous sex, but as women taking charge of their own sexuality. At least, that’s how I recall it - I haven’t gone back to revisit it since it was first released.
 
It's a catchy song, but for rap I prefer the old masters. And I think the insurrection at the capital was a lot more damaging to "American values" than a song.

Meh, people have been saying this for years about various artists whether it is Elvis, Madonna, Miley, etc. I always find that women are often more targeted than men in these situations too. Musical artists are always pushing the envelope. At least these ladies are owning their sexuality instead of the status quo - the male gangster rappers talking about women. They don't catch nearly as much flak (even though I'm a fan of 90s rap....).

Why? I’m raising two and it’s a blast! Artists have been attacked for expression as long as art and humans have existed. It’s my job as the parent to monitor what my children are watching, it’s not the artist’s job to censor themselves because I have kids.

I think your household has a lot to do with respect towards the opposite sex. That goes for men and women alike. Watching raunchy performances I don’t think would have any long term effects as long as the child is brought up with adults that show each other respect day to day.
 
I agree it comes down to the family. A child's learning and socialization are most influenced by their family since the family is the child's primary social group.
