narrowed selection to two for Mark Morrell ring

I''m having a ring done by Mark Morrell - it will be a half bezel - bypass. These are the choices -

I don''t understand the flaw in this one ?


Is this a good Cut - it has a great GEMEX


The ring is fairly delicate - I''m not sure that the size difference is worth the extra money. If I weren''t getting a Morrell setting I would by a bigger diamond. I''m choosing today "maybe". Anything else I should be looking at?

Hi jay,

Either of these would be lovely. I personally would go with the bigger one, that''s a good bit of difference in that size. And the circle is including the very small faint clouds in the diamond. No biggie.

Plus a MM setting? That''s going to be one stunning ring!!

I''m working with MM on a design based on some asian designs. I will be proposing with a temporary setting until the MM setting is done.

Both diamonds are lovely. The "flaw" in diamond #1 is just to point out the cloud but it really shouldn''t be visible in person. No worries there.

As for the price difference for 0.2mm, it''s your call. I guess it''s also because there''s a price jump when the carat weight goes over the magic 1 carat mark. Personally, diamond #2 is a good deal, looks like a 1 carat diamond but without the price tag of a 1 carat, and you CAN say it''s 1 carat (rounding up just a wee bit).

If you have the funds, RB#1 is very pretty too. You can''t go wrong either way.
