Quality vs quantity the eternal question. Ideally you get both right? Originally I wanted to get a 1.5 ct stone but eventually I became more familiar with the various characteristics of diamonds (thanks largely to PS) and now I've whittled my choice down to two diamonds, both from WF.

My GF likes large and shiny. On the other hand, I like the idea of giving something high quality, but mostly I want her to love her ring and I don't think she'll care much about what's under the hood so long as it looks great.

Would you go for this stone-

RB 1.23ct WF ACA, G/VVS2:

or this stone-

RB 1.5ct G SI1 (links below):

I'm looking forward to hearing your opinions! Thanks :)

Sid,

You should just post the link for us instead of posting pictures of it from the WF site. Put the diamond on hold before you post it if you are worried about the diamond being taken. The mods will probably remove those links anyway as they don't want dead links to be left in forums here.

In my opinion:

i) You pay a premium for VVS grade and if the stone is eye clean you won't tell the difference between an SI1 and a VVS2.
ii) You may see slightly better optics from the WF ACA versus an ideal stone like the second one but I think the difference will be very small, however your GF will really notice the size difference.

The second stone you have chosen gives you both size and quality. I think the premium you pay for a WF ACA is you take the guesswork out of finding an excellent stones and you get a "Mind Clean" above ideal cut. Can your eye see the difference between an ACA and a Expert Selection AGS 000 with a nice ASET? I'm really not sure and few will be comparing the two side by side anyway.

Both are nice stones and I suspect in the real world most would say ii) on this site as people are at the highest level of pickyness you might get more choosing i) the choice will be your personal preference.

The 1.50ct looks good to me.
Ask them to eyeball for any interuption to light from the pavilion side feathers. Should be fine though.

And CCL is right - put up the correct link s most dont work

Both look great, if the SI1 is eyeclean and you aren''t bothered about the '' pedigree'' of the ACA then you could pick that one, either could be an excellent choice depending on your preferences.

The G SI1 looks good. If you are not worried about having a H&A and the stone is eye-clean, no reason not to get it.

Sorry about the links, they were emailed to me or I''d have posted a link. I appreciate everyone''s input =)
