Dneedshelp,

The proportions of both diamonds are well within desirable range. The scanned image of #2 (1.56ct) looks slightly superior in terms of light return, BUT the girdle is listed as Extremely Thin in places - you can see the girdle wave graphic at the bottom of the report verifies this. This could be a red flag for durability, so I would have an expert analysis done by someone with the diamond in-hand before settling on this stone.

Thank you very much for the reply! I do have both diamonds scheduled to be sent out on Wednesday to my local jeweler. Can someone in the store there tell me if the 1.56 will be a durability risk? This is a free in-store preview, but because I had one already with them, I will not get the opportunity again, therefore I'm "trying" to pick the best two diamonds for preview. I think I will contact Ritani and ask them about this. My goodness, I surely wouldn't want a stone that could easily chip! Will Ritani be forthright too? Thank you very much again for the heads-up on this.

I agree diamond #2 has better simetry. I am not sure what does thin griddle means to durability. I will get prof opinion.

How are you planning on setting it? If it is in a halo or bezel it should not be an issue. If it is in an open style 4 prong type setting and you bump your hands on things then yes you have a marginally higher chance of chipping the side of a diamond if it is super thin.

I emailed my Ritani rep and requested she hold off on sending them out until we get this all cleared up. I will call in on Monday as well to let them know.

As far as my setting...I so wish I could say I've found the one. I'm drawn toward yellow gold, and white/platinum prevails in the selection's department. I originally wanted a six prong, but was advised by Ritani rep to do the four. Anyway, we are trying to at least get the diamond secured. I can then take it with me on my hunt to find my prefect setting.

I really do appreciate the help here. I'll let you know what I find out. Thx!
