Hi everyone!

After weeks and weeks of researching diamonds and searching for the right setting I've narrowed the e-ring down to 2 choices. I've done this without any help from the G/F who hasn't given me any input other that she's ready to get engaged. Her diamond and ring knowledge is limited at best, and I believe that she would be happy with either ring. So without much help from the girlfriend, these are the 2 settings and diamonds I've come up with. I haven't shown anyone so was hoping for some opinions from you guys/gals...It will be greatly appreciated! So here are the choices.

Ring 1:
Ritani Endless Love setting w/Halo
1.33 Round center diamond
AGS-0 Ideal cut
H
SI1 (eye clean)

Ring 2:
Simon G micro pave setting
1.50 RB center diamond (no halo)
AGS-0 Ideal Cut
H
SI2 (Eye clean)

The ritani ring (ring 1) has more of an antique look which I like, and the Simon G (ring 2) I think is more of a traditional or classical engagement ring. I really like them both but since I'm surprising the girlfriend I wanted to get opinions and preferences from you people on this forum on which e-ring they would prefer. The price is about the same.

Does anyone think I should ask the G/F about what she might like? That might take away from the surprise in my opinion, which I don't want to do...I know she wants to be surprised

I couldn't figure out how to attach pics so I'm gonna post links with the 2 settings/diamonds. Some of the pics came from this forum so thanks for posting them! And thanks for your help with my dileman!

Hi! I think that maybe you should find out what she likes. A halo is a very specific look and while I LOVELOVELOVE

them, not everyone does. I think ring 2 is a little safer (if you don''t want to ask her)
Better yet, maybe you could get a friend of hers to ask her. My friends knew exactly what I wanted (just in case DH asked). So, when he asked them, they knew!

Okay, well MY pick would be the Ritani because it is a style more to my liking (clean lines, bezel set). Ritani also has a great reputation for their pave work (stones are rarely lost).

Honestly you have to decide whether surprising your girlfriend or your peace of mind in making the right choice is more important. We can all tell you which ring we like more but that does not mean that your girlfriend will like it more.

If you are totally convinced you must surprise her I would propose with just the stone, or the stone in a temporary inexpensive setting (like a 4 prong Tiffany style that can be had for around $200) and then let her pick the setting.

HTH!

Oh and here are the pictures for refrence:

I''d say Ritani

I vote for the simon G -- it''s beautiful and more of a classic look. Personally, I''m not such a fan of bezel set diamonds, and since you have pretty sizable diamonds, I don''t think they need the extra size that the halo provides.

If it''s important to her to be surprised, then I wouldn''t consult her on it. But maybe you can consult her mom or a sister or friend on which style she''d prefer.

I very much prefer the Ritani, but as was noted above, its a very personal thing. I think the idea of getting a temp setting if possible and choosing the best diamond you can find for her (either of the above sound promising but we''d need to know more about them to advise you on their relative merits), and putting it in a temp simple solitaire setting and then letting her help you pick the setting. That way you still get to surprise her, she has something to show friends and family after the engagement, but she gets to be involved in the setting decision process, which I think is important since she''ll (hopefully) be wearing this every day for the rest of her life.

Love the Simon G & 1.5 carat stone combo!

That Simon G setting will probably scratch the wedding band, so I would not do that one. I also would not give a halo ring to someone who had not approved it. So I''d vote for the 1.5 ct. stone in a plain tiffany setting and let her choose her dream setting.

Simon G all the way!

Is she trendy/modern in her taste in clothing or furniture? Then I would go with the more classic Simon G.

If she loves things that are vintage or antique, I would go with the slightly vintage styled Ritani.

Of course if it was me, I''d say let''s get the least expensive Tiffany styled 6 prong and go with a 1.75 ct. diamond

Out of those two choices I would go with the Simon G, both diamonds have enough presence on their own to stand alone without the need for halo''s

I would go with the Simon G.

Hard choice, as they are both lovely. I''ll vote for the Simon G, but will warn you it will scratch a wedding band, not sure if that''s key to her wanting to wear one next to her ring. The Ritani, won''t, but Halo''s aren''t for everyone. Does she have a sister you can ask, or a BFF. Providing they can keep a secret? Good luck deciding, let us know what you choose.

I really think that this is something she should decide simply because women usually feel strongly for or against a halo. Do you know how she feels about a halo?

Simon G! Simon G!
