Name something good that has happened as a result of the pandemic.

I find it hard to find the silver linning, considering im an introvert i found lockdown hard and finacially it was a big strain
I had to cook for necessity

However the SPCA adopted out lots of animals and at least in this country they didn't get handed back in

My heart aches for all the families who have lost loved ones to covid 19

Caused a chain of events at my husband’s company that led to him getting a promotion.

I finally got to losing some weight and I have lost 16 lbs so far/ have cleaned up my diet. Only 13 lbs til I’m where I want to be. I do miss pizza and milkshakes though.

It's really nice here. My apartment is very high (higher than anything else arround) and I now realize we're surrounded by mountains. I'd never really bothered to stop and look and I suspect the air quality was never good enough anyway. But there are mountains in both the neighbouring countries and I can finally see them it's amazing. There are now swallows in our pool and humming birds in most of the trees arround our apartment block -- many more than normal. For the first time in years we are actually swimming in the pool and going for walks outside on weekends.20200722_094409.jpg

I love vinyl. Nothing (IMO) beats the experience of putting a vinyl record on the record player and listening to it play. My DH (who is an audiophile) prefers digital for a superior listening experience but I would take Vinyl every single time. Hands down.

Like film photos printed out over digital ones!

We’ve realised what good friends and neighbours we have. People have offered to get shopping for us, even when there were severe shortages in the shops. We didn’t take them up on their kind offers, apart from the odd time when they actually rang whilst in the shop and said “do you need any.......?”.

We’ve become better friends with people we’ve known for many years, we see them for a walk every week now, chat while we’re walking, and laugh which is really going a long way to making life feel somewhat normal again.

We’re getting several weeks to the gallon in the car!

We’re eating too many home made cakes!

We’re making full use of the garden furniture we bought a few years ago and hardly used. We’ve taken up golf again, after a 17 year lay off.

We’re still alive, healthy and grateful.

I can avoid going to the dentist?

Spending more time with my youngest daughter. She no longer has school and lacrosse to keep her running everywhere. We adopted her kitty during quarantine after her first broken heart. Her & I have had many many special conversations while spending time taking care of my grandkitty.

Also learning to slow down. This is difficult for me as my mind is racing from the moment I wake up. I don't sit still well, there is always something to be done. I have learned to allow myself to breathe and relax. It's okay if the chores are not done that instant.

There was something starkly beautiful about NYC totally deserted. From a totally selfish standpoint, it made getting around so very easy.

Another personal standpoint- there are really two 47th streets.
The one I live in- upstairs. Honor and trust are placed at a supreme value. Down at street level, it's a cat fight. Sellers ( most) will do ANYTHING to separate a sucker from their money, or merchandise. The lack of that was really nice....of course, it's back now with a vengeance....

My bird happened. It was 4 years in the planning stage. For a budgie. Because I was afraid of taking on too much responsibility. Now I wake up early in the morning to start *his* day and am sad when he goes to bed at night. But he's finally becoming quite tame, so that's a huge accomplishment. He brings such joy to all of us really.

Absolutely! I am not a good photographer but I LOVE taking pictures with old SLR film cameras. I have a great collection at home but unfortunately didn't feel any desire to do analog photography during these difficult days. Sharing some of my old pictures I was able to find after I read your mentioning of film printed photos. Are there any enthusiasts on PS?302163_499687146723307_1494062867_n.jpg1052442_629128477112506_1294261711_o.jpg1397501_695677163790970_2040869525_o.jpg10269124_864636780228340_6846302507399261096_o.jpg10497375_844641842227834_1511960277721465226_o.jpg10700184_864624943562857_2687738105094890332_o (2).jpg

My daughter is blue-purple because the film was outdated, some photographers prefer using old films. I think I am not one of them, just didn't have a fresh roll of film:D.

Any photos you care to share. They’re so cute.

It hard to find the silver linings sometimes.... I could easily list the major things we have lost this year already but instead I will flip the script on 2020 and say this....

I’m thankful that my partner is so good at his job that he has been able to work this whole time keeping our head above water.
I’m thankful for the time I have stopped working as I was getting really burnt out after ten years of running my own business - health wise and emotionally/mentally. This may allow me to go back with a refreshed mentality and new motivation to get things going again.
I’m also grateful that it has given me the time to go through some old jewellery waiting to be fixed up and discovered a real life treasure right under my nose this whole time ❤️

Hang in there everyone and think about how much we are going to appreciate all the little things once we come out the other side!

Helped a 11 year old girl who never rode a bike get her first bike.
I had saved an old girls bike someone threw out years ago.
Her grandpa fixed it up for her.

I have all of my four kids back under the same roof and we have been having the best time together. Life is weird right now so we are just trying to enjoy the blessings that we have .

In the first mask days, I hauled the sewing machine upstairs along with quilting cotton. I sat down at the table and had to remember how to use it. After my 70th mask or so, I was tooling around on it pretty well. Now I feel more confident to sew things for the home.

Love the soft pink rose & the dog photo!
Maybe digital photos look crisper or sharper but I love film photos.

Also I never print off the digital photos or make scrapbooks anymore & I feel like I miss having albums to flip through and reminisce.

My kids & I looked through my wedding album recently; they were amazed to see how their cousins who are now married were small children then.

Our silver lining:
Able to personally witnessed baby girl’s first step. We spend less money. We cook more. I was actually able to hear her say Mom for the very first time. I’ve been waiting for a repeat now for days. I’m still working full time from home. The only difficult thing to do for me is to get away from baby girl for two hour to get some work done. Otherwise, she will sit and wait outside my office door while I’m catching up on work.

There’s such thing as family nap and we enjoy this everyday. I’m catching up on a LOT of movies. I love comedy, drama and scary movies.

I am so grateful for all that we can enjoy while staying at home.

"Name something good that has happened as a result of the pandemic."

The best thing in nearly 4 years ...
... trump looks more than ever like the pile sh!t that he truly is ... and, thank glob, may loose in Nov.

I discovered that working from home suits me much better than I thought it would, and I will continue post-COVID (my employer already had a WFH program, I just never used it).

And although having the kids home all day with schools closed has been at times noisy and stressful, in the evenings we often go on family walks, and that has been nice.

Like some others, I have been enjoying the slowed down pace of life. I never liked the rat race thing anyways.

Once upon a time I made some quilts. But I’m a terribly, chronically, disorganized person... so I put the thought aside and dreamed of taking the hobby up seriously again after I retired. But, I gave one of my early, somewhat “rustic” quilts to my parents shortly before they retired, and my mother took up quilting with a vengeance, developing a personal style and palette very different than I my own. And I continued to go to quilt shows (and shops ) and pick up bits of fabric. and eventually I got to where felt that I couldn’t possibly be as creative as those other quilters... that the best I could hope for was to create cute things following other people’s leads. When we cleaned out my parents’ home this February, I claimed a lot of her fabric stash, but with the sinking feeling that I would, at best, use it to basically re-create her quilts (which I do love).

Enter a world-wide pandemic. After sitting on the sidelines a bit, I decided to make some masks. Long story short (because my sweetie is about to serve breakfast) my sweetie and I experimented and played with fabrics and designs and came up with masks that we’ve been sharing with friends and family to very good response. And my creative juices, and desire to play with fabric, have been revived!
