I''m researching dresses and need something that isn''t white and that is roomy (for obvious reasons

). I only know of four places to look: DB, Alfred Angelo, Maggie, and Melissa Sweet.

Any other suggestions

Amsale
Priscilla of Boston
Sophia Tolli
Pronovias
Watters
Disney Bridal
Badgley Mischka (totally misspelled that)
Matthew Christopher

Ack.... I'm better with shoes...

The Knot page on dresses has a *very* long list of bridal gown designers, and will give you a sense of price range on specific dresses (from $ to $$$$$). So, that would be a good place to start (look at the lower half of the page). Here's the link:

good luck!

What do you mean by "not white?" Does that mean ivory, or are you looking at a variety of colors? Do you want a long gown, or a short one?

I think that an empire waist gown would be roomy and beautiful. Check out this one by one of my favorite designers: Notte by Marchesa navy goddess gown. Marchesa gowns are often seen at the Oscars, but their Notte line is more affordable, and is priced similarly to many wedding gowns.

Try the dresses section of www.brides.com. This website is the most comprehensive one that I have seen.

Casablanca is another reasonably priced designer with great dresses IMO.

That''s a beautiful dress! And yes I mean ivory or champagne or any other color. I think I wouldn''t feel right in a white dress. I would prefer long but not with a long train since we are going to dinner in a restaurant following.

i''d also look at anjolique, mon cheri, jolie, JASMINE, impression, forever yours, jessica mcclintock, and raylia. they are all reasonably priced (at least some, if not most, gowns under 1k).

are you planning on buying and just super rush shipping?

Do you want to wear white though? Because I say to hell with anyone who is thinking "ooh she''s wearing white with a bun?" at your wedding. LOL, not really. But you know.

I say get thee to brides.com and theknot.com!

Here is a link to another amazing Marchesa empire waist gown in light pink. It''s on eBay, but the seller appears to have lots of positive feedback.

Also try Saks and Neiman Marcus and their outlets... I almost bought a gorgeous off white gown at a "Off 5th" outlet store becasue it was such a great deal.

I third (fourth?) Watters. This one is from their WTOO collection (and comes in ivory):

I'll add Mori Lee, Da Vinci, and Allure for the inexpensive options, as well as Jim Hjelm, Lazaro, and Tara Keely on the pricier side.

I LOVE Lazaro.... but I may be biased!!!

If you want to wear white, then you should go ahead and wear it. Don''t worry what other people think.

I know white is supposed to represent pure and virginal and all that, but I have been living in sin with my FI for over 10 years, so that doesn''t exactly apply....

Stuff it! I am going to wear white if I want to (actually probably ivory, but you get the idea). We are also going to spend the night before the wedding apart, and be given away by my father, both traditions that stem from a ''pure young woman'' going from her father''s home to be married to her new husband. In this day and age, it''s different, so please don''t not wear it, as you feel like you shouldn''t. You deserve every happiness on your wedding day sweetie!
