Hey girls.. I hardly get anything except for a manicure and pedicure done. So what do you recommend for fake nails? Acrylics? Gel? Solar? I have an appointment tomorrow morning, so any response would help!

Tell me what you had done, what you prefer, what you like and don''t like, what you''re planning on doing etc...

I only usually get a regular mani/pedi myself so I only have secondhand info here, but the women at the nail place I go to all go crazy for "synergy gels" or something like that. . .apparently they are some kind of gel tips that look like a french mani, but last 3 weeks! I think the gel itself is colored so no polish and they dry instantly - they look gorgeous, but I prefer more color plus they''re a little more $$ than regular manicure - worth it if you want them because they last longer, but not for me.

I hope that was a tiny bit helpful. . .

I get acrylics and normally get a fill about every 2 weeks or so...

I used to do uv gels, stopped because it got too expensive, but they look great.

Hi lucy!

I get acrylic pink and white nails done so it always looks like I have a french manicure. I can make each fill last about 3-4 weeks with buffing them after about 2 weeks and then applying a UV protection topcoat...I use Orly Sunscreen for Nails that costs about $4 at Sally Beauty Supply. HTH!

I''ve had solar which aren''t supposed to yellow in the sun... they worked out well. My favorite are SILK though. It''s difficult to find someone who does them as they aren''t very common... around here at least. And they are usually a little more expensive, but they lasted much longer on me and didn''t damage my real nails as badly. It''s been a while since I had the silk nails but I think they cut a small piece of silk , glue it to your nail, and then layer everything on top of that. I suppose it helps them breathe better.

Thanks girls... this helps a lot! I''m still not sure what to do.. here''s the website of the salon i''ll be going to. You can look up their services and what they do.

I''m debating between solar and u.v. gel - I need to talk to the nail salon and find out more about the difference and what would work best for the wedding and what i do. =)
