So I bought a 1.3 G VS1 for my girlfriend several months ago and gave it to her yesterday. She noticed that there seems to be a line which looks like an inclusion that is parallel to the table and about 1/2 way between the girdle and the facet. There certainly should not be any major visible inclusions, but I am wondering if this could be a reflection from the setting or something else that is perfectly normal. I saw the stone before they set it, and I assume they set the stone I selected, but I guess you never really know for sure. Any ideas, or should I just take it to a jeweler to double check? Do jewelers usually charge for that and if so how much?

Don''t worry--that''s just the reflection of the girdle. It''s not an inclusion or flaw. All diamonds have it, even flawless ones. Do a search here on "girdle reflection" and you''ll see pictures.

Welcome, and congratulations!!

You are describing the girdle reflection. It''s perfectly normal and nothing to worry about!

If you do a PS search on girdle reflection you''ll find a lot of very similar posts, some with pictures of the reflection.

I do hope you''ll be sharing pics of your lovely ring!
