Hello everyone! I'm finally at the stage where I can begin to post waxes of my rings!

So what do you think? Any suggestions before I send it back to jeweler? I want to know if it's just me or does the head look too tall/big and unsafe?

Background: my stone is a 1.35 RB 7.06 x 7.10 x 4.33
Head: tiffany-style 6 prong head

I don't want the prongs to be too short 'cuz I don't want the culet to be all the way down touching the bottom/inside of the head cuz then it looks too smushed; but at the same time, I don't want the prongs to be too tall and "in the way" all the time (i.e. accidentally rubbing the table or door against it). I do not want euro shanks at all but am scared of spinning.

re the side stones...you're supposed to see purely diamonds on top and right now it seems like you can see a lot of prongs - i read on pricescope that this is common in waxes and in the finished product, you can't see these, is that true or should i be concerned now??

I really want to get heart-shaped claws on these...I know most people don't like them but i've seen them on pricescope before and they look good...was wondering what you thought of heart-shaped prongs on tiffany-style 6-prong heads?

Thanks!

I love the idea of heart prongs! I didnt know that people here didnt like them. I say absolutely get them if you love them because you will notice that every single
day! It will be a gorgeous ring! Congrats! cant wait to see the photos.

looking good so far, yes, love the heart tip prongs!

It is impossible to judge the things you are wondering about from wax, there is 15% extra in the wax that will be polished off during finishing, so you can subtract that from the wax. In my opinion, the finishing stage is as important as the wax for creating the end product!

Custom is tricky because in the end you have to trust that the vendor understands *exactly* what you want! I recently had a shared prong half-eternity band made and wanted only diamonds to show too, so the prongs needed to be very very close together. I trusted my vendors and also gave them photos of as many pictures as I could and said "This is what I want the setting to look like!!" If you have such conversatios in writing and they say, "Yup we can make it look just like that!" and then if it doesn''t, you would have grounds for a refund or remake I think.

So I recommend that you talk to your vendor about this stuff and use photos to illustrate your points. You can also ask how many mm there will be from the shank to the table of the diamond, because this is a concrete estimate of the height at which the diamond will be set.

Can''t wait to see it!

It looks really nice, going to be beautiful! If you have any doubt, speak to the jeweler about the size of the prongs before it''s completed!

ooooohhhh....i can''t wait to see it when it''s all sparkly!!!!!! keep us posted.....

Thanks for your responses, everyone! So I decided not to go w/ the heart-tip prongs at the last minute in order to preserve its "classic" look. The ring should be coming in a few days but no handshots until after he proposes. Pray that he proposes soon so y''all can see the rings!
