First post! Instead of a wordy intro, I''ll post pics of my "ering"!

The stats I know (a formal appraisal will happen soon):

Center stone: octagonal blue sapphire
Side stones: French cut blue sapphires
Accent stones: 8 OEC diamonds (approx. 15 points each?) + 12 single cut diamonds (tiny!)
Material: platinum
Origin: England or France, circa 1910s
Dealer: John Joseph of London

Thanks, guys! I will definitely work on getting more pics. And I love the antique cuts/jewellery threads and will certainly contribute there.

CaityJ, your ring is so beautiful, please share more pictures!

Its so beautiful and unique. I would also love some more pics

Congrats!

Very pretty, can''t wait to see more pictures!

Sapphires are my other favorite choice for gems. Your ring is a stunning example of the type of beautiful rings that never lose their appeal. I would happily wear that ring, and if it is a family heirloom, then it means that much more. Even if it isn''t from family, it can now become a beautiful piece to keep and pass down through the generations. I would never change a thing about this ring!

I love blue sapphires! I love your vintage setting, too. More pictures!

I love the intricacy of the setting....the workmanship is wonderful. A beautiful, classy ring. I love jewelry with history. Congrats!!

Thanks for all the compliments, folks! I love it, too. I knew I wanted a vintage piece and I thought i wanted a ruby. When we actually went to this dealer, all the rubies I liked were out of our price range (big surprise!) so I tried on sapphire after sapphire until the dealer pulled out this one. Talk about wow!

Here are a few more pics!

This next one is a hand shot outside.

Stunning ring! Great color and the setting from the side is just FAB. Yes it looks very very good from the top too but the side really caught me!

Welcome to PS

Another one outside.

This really shows how the side works with the single cut tiny diamonds at the edges and larger OEC in the middle. Also, a piece of fuzz. That''s my artistic contribution to the piece...I think it really sells it.

BlackIsland: Sapphires are way up there for me, too (obviously). I like that it is very durable and has a classic colour.

Stone Hunter: This is my ideal colour for sapphire: very deep blue with good saturation, but not so dark that people can mistake it for anything else. I am just not as big a fan of the medium blues that are so popular now. Of course, ALL sapphires are wonderful, though!

oh my, it''s just stunning...seriously beautiful!!

OMG, I LOVE it!!!! I adore sapphires, and these are gorgeous!!! More pics please!!

Absolutely. Sparkly stones and beautiful platinum work are one thing, but well-placed fuzz is on an entirely separate plane!

Amaaaaaaaaaaazingly beautiful ring, by the way. Any idea what sort of wedding band you want to pair with that?

Thank you! I think I will actually forgo the wedding band and try to muscle a nice pair of earrings (sapphire!) out of my guy for the wedding. I like the way the ring looks all by itself!

One of the prettiest antique rings I''ve ever seen!!!

Congrats!! I LOVE the ring! I''m very partial to sapphires!!!

I somehow missed this, but it is magnificent!!!
