Hi everyone. I''m a long time lurker and would like to thank all the wonderful people who participate on this site. I found this site during a search for diamonds 2 years ago this Nov. My 35th wedding anniv. was coming the following Aug and I decided that I would like a nice ER. So one night I found Pricescope and became instantly addicted. Every night I was reading the tutorials and all the old posts until late into the night. Then around Dec. I told my hubby that I would really, really like a nice ER, fairly good size with a good pedigree. That was okay with him until I told him what the budget needs to be. Whoa! My husband is an accountant and a very generous person BUT he is not one to spend thousands on a small piece of jewelry. For those of you that are having problems convincing hubby, here''s what I said. I told him that it was an emotional gift that a husband gives his wife. And after being with him since age 14, I deserve it! If something happened to him or he died, I wouldn''t run out and spend the life insurance money on a ring. It wouldn''t have the same meaning. If he doesn''t buy it for me, I''ll never have one. And the ring will be passed on to my granddaughter someday. Mission accomplished. He finally got the message.
He finally agreed but wanted to get it from someone he knows that''s local. This man buys rings and stones from stores and resells them. I said that I really felt that I would get the best bang for my buck and excellent service from one of the major internet companies. I thought he was going to fall off his chair. He was shocked that we would spend thousands on line. Well everyone, it took TEN LONG MONTHS to convince him to do this for me. He thought that he would get a better deal from the local gentleman (since then, several friends bought from him and aren''t pleased for various reasons).
So I began some serious searching. My husband wasn''t going to put in the time to search nor does he know anything about diamonds. And boy did he get taken at a local B&M on a pair of diamond studs several years ago. Prepricescope. I ended up getting the diamond and wedding set from James Allen working with Jennifer. And hubby told me that the day he wired the money to JA, that it hurt writing that check. Being an accountant, he''d rather invest the money. He did ask me if I would like platinum because I had told him that it lasts through generations. It was nice that he offered to pay the extra but guess what? I''m an old fashioned girl. All my jewelry is yellow gold so I went with a shared prong, 18Kgold ring with a special head that was made for a gal several years ago. Sort of a Lockes type with surprise diamonds. I fell in love with it when I saw it posted on SMTR. I ended up getting a 1.67 J S1 round brilliant extemely eye clean AGS000. I really can''t see anything with a 10x loupe. Please don''t spank me but I never had all the reports sent to me. I just asked Jennifer how it looked compared to some others. She said it was a winner and I trusted her eyes. At the end of the day, it''s how it looks to me that really counts. No one in the family or friends has a top quality diamond so I have nothing to compare it with but it is a beauty. Sparkles in the sun and at night on my lanai. I have the lanai strung with those tiny clear Xmas lights. It puts on a quite a show.
For a long time I had problems getting logged on to this site or I would have made myself known to all alot sooner. I have some wonderful pictures of my ring that I will try to post. I''m not good at doing this sort of stuff so please be patient. I do promise to figure it out somehow. This summer my nephew in Iraq wanted to get engaged and told his Mom what he wanted. Well my sister knows nothing about diamonds so I was asked to buy online for him. I felt honored that they would trust my judgement. He got a beautiful .88 J S12 round brilliant, totally eye clean H&A. When it arrived my sister said it looked like a mini disco ball. Nice compliment. And my nephew was very, very pleased with the mini disco ball and thanks to Jennifer again at JA for being my eyes. Oh thank heaven for all of you and Pricescope. Because of you, I have a beautiful diamond!
