Vegas, that is my issue too! Definitely it was a symptom of pregnancy, but here and there it makes me ill now. I guess it comes from what happens if you really think about it and the conditions etc. Gives you pause for a moment. I also think it is when my body does not need it, it sort of turns me off of it.

AGBF, I''m getting married in July, so if there was a bun in the oven (which there''s not), the timing wouldn''t be good. That''s all. I actually was kidding about the ''please please please let it not be true'' part of my other post. I guess it didn''t come out that way. So, no cause for alarm.

If the timing wouldn''t be good, I will try not to be disappointed. When I wander over to Family, Home & Health I always get in the mood for babies, though ;-).

Me too. It''s funny, I wondered where to put this and then decided this would be the place. It might be more appropriate in Hangout?

Zoe have you taken a test?

You are right. If I think about the animals, the way meat looks & smells I get turned off fast.

If I ever ate rotten meat it would take a long time for me to eat it again.

I got really sick years and years ago from bad chicken. I ended up in the hospital for days, on IV''s, no food allowed. On antibiotics for weeks after, and a totally modified diet (no dairy, roughage or hard to digest food) for MONTHS. I honestly tell you to this day I do not think my stomach recovered totally. And, it took me months after that to even want to touch chicken at all.

A PT? no, I haven''t. I know I''m not pregnant so there''s no need.

How funny how many of us had an aversion to meat whilst pregnante. Me too!!!!

I didn't read all the other posts, but wanted to chime in that it happens to me now and then, and I have never been pregnant. :) I go through all sorts of weird cycles with my eating habits, which I'm sure is awful for my health, but I can't help it! I'll go from wanting to eat everything I think of, to everything I think of eating sounding completely unappealing... it's a bit annoying because this has been the way I am since probably highschool, yet since I've been with FI anytime I think something smells funny and it's making me feel sick, or if I want to eat everything or nothing, people ask me if I'm expecting! They seem to forget that this is how I am, and have been for years, just because I'm with FI doesn't magically make it go away unless I'm expecting! GEEZ. lol

Ok, sorry for the little rant but it really gets on my nerves. You wouldn't believe how many times a month I get asked if theres even a possibility.. *sigh*

But yes, happens to me off and on, it passes sooner or later and before I know it all I want is a stack of bbq ribs, or a big ol' steak.

ETA: My sister who has three, was unable to eat a certain kind of meat whilst pregnant with each, I think it was chicken. I also know some people who CRAVED meat while pregnant, but when they tried to eat it they'd get sick, natures cruel joke I suppose?

My first two kids I craved red meat and it was chicken that grossed me out, unless it was fried chicken fingers. Bones, dark meat, grill marks, no way. Could not touch it. Only wanted chili, steaks, burgers...and tons of salads, fruits, etc. My third, no meat at all really worked. I could get cut up friend chicken tenders in a salad down, and once in a while some filet of sole covered in lemon, but I called this my white food pregnancy. Mashed or baked potatoes, grilled cheese on white bread, mac and cheese, pasta in cream sauce, stuff I NEVER eat when not pregnant. But even now, definitely NOT pregnant, I go through food aversion and craving cycles too.

i loveeeee meat. party...i hear ya re: the whole ''are you pregnant'' thing...i have a friend who i adore but seriously all she has right now is babies on the brain. anytime we email if i am like...gosh i got so sick with the flu last week, she is like ''are you sure you''re not pregnant?'' and if i don''t write for a week or two she will write and say ''so are you not writing because you are pregnant?''. everything is ''are you pregnant?''. she wants to get pregnant this year so she has a one track mind right now. it''s funny because if i was pregnant, she''d be one of the first ones i''d tell because i think she''d lose her mind with happiness. she loves babies.

if i get pregnant and can''t eat meat i will be SO sad. especially because i am going to try to forgo sugar the entire time (yeah right) because i have read so much about how if you are addicted to sugar and eat a lot of sugar while preggo that your poor kid basically is born with a sugar addiction and it can set them up for a lifetime of weight problems...i would love to not have my super addicting sweet tooth passed onto my child and take away one potentially negative thing they would have to deal with in the future. my mom has a strong sweet tooth and ate so many sweets with all of us and we''re convinced that''s why we all can never turn down anything sweet. hehe. so anyway, if i can''t have sugar OR meat...i''ll be eating a bunch of veggies the whole time.

This is happening to me now!!!

I am pregnant (of course) and although I have cravings for meat, when I actual eat the meat, I throw up. Or even when I just smell it. Especially fried stuff. Chicken is the worst. I smell it and I get queezy and dizzy.

It''s driving me crazy because I keep buying food or ordering food that I crave, but then when I actually get it, I don''t eat it. Sometimes I have to hide it in the fridge, so I don''t smell it.

I have actually lost 5 lbs.

It also doesn''t help that I read part of that book called Skinny B*tch right before I found out I was pregnant and there is a whole chapter on meat that would make anyone puke.

I would also want something really badly and order it or make it and then the sight of it or smell would make me sick. I would get so frustrated.

I heard about the section in that book and am avoiding it for that reason! I still want to have some ability to eat meat, though I know intellectually that it is pretty nasty and does not do good things to your insides!

I want to try Evercleanse, it supposedly helps clean out all the stuff that is parked in your insides!

I think that I could easily stick to pasta dishes and potatoes and be mostly fine without ever eating meat again. I love carbs and I often crave them. If I did give up meat, I''d still eat fish because it''s healthy and it doesn''t make me queasy. Well, occasionally, but the whole "flesh eating" bit that someone mentioned earlier mainly creeps me out if it''s beef or pork (and sometimes chicken). Fish doesn''t seem to bother me too much.

Zoe, I''m the same way! That''s why I didn''t eat meat for so long...I just don''t care for it. The only reason I started again is because FI is a dedicated carnivore, and since he does vegetarian meals for me, I think it''s only fair for me to sometimes do chicken and occasionally lamb for him. The rest of the time, we happily compromise on fish

I just have to work really hard not to eat all carbs, all the time.

I work in animal welfare (companion animals) and get updates from the Humane Society on their different campaigns, which can be QUITE graphic. They are really focusing on the factory farming industry, which have some pretty horrific and cruel practices. In fact, the latest huge recall is as a result of some hidden-camera investigations by HSUS.

For me, I find that being more aware of the cruelties inflicted on these animals makes it difficult for me to enjoy meat as much as I used to. In conjunction with my cholesterol zooming up, I am trying to eat healthier - more whole grains, veggies, and fish. I''m finding that I really enjoy my new diet and feel better about what I am putting into my body. I do still occasionally get a burger or chicken sandwich from Cook-out or Five Guys, but much less often than before.

I think we are what we eat, but as much as I love carbs I cannot just rely on them, I feel too sluggy when I do. I can eat most fish pretty well because they are not cute to me!!! I know that sounds weird, and I do eat meat, but I try to avoid too much thinking about it. It always amused me though that we can eat cow and in India they are sacred animals, no one would do that. I try not to over think, but I wonder ever if I could be a total vegetarian, even down to no eggs and renetless cheese. Might be tough to do....

I''m not pregnant but I always feel so guilty eating meat. I start thinking about how cute chickens are or how sweet cows are.... So far, I don''t eat veal, duck, or lamb but I have a feeling the list is going to grow eventually(Those are kind of obscure meats anyways). I''m such a hypocrite!!

I''m guessing it has to do with the news on the downed cattle still being turned into meat.
I personally tried to avoid seeing it, but yesterday when watching streaming news it started and I saw some before I could turn it off.

I love animals and I felt bad about eating meat, but then it gets me thinking how pretty much everything we eat is taking away from other (wild) animals by using their ecosystem for farmland, pushing them out of existence, etc. In college I went through a bout of vegetarianism, which ended when I found out I was severely anemic. Even though I was eating a near ideal vegetarian diet. Even during the time I was a vegetarian I never was grossed out by meat, in fact craved it. It''s too bad I don''t feel grossed out I think it would be easier for me to eat less meat if I felt that way.

Strangely enough during both times when I was pregnant but before I knew it, I had a craving for chicken, something I normally don''t eat alot of. Maybe because it is more mild than beef and lamb?

I admire people who are vegetarians and have the will power to stick with it.

My ways of dealing is eating a less meat-intensive diet and buying meat from ethical sources where though it is more expensive the animals were more likely to be treated humanly.
