I don’t usually have much to share here, but I thought I would share my experience for posterity and bling drooling! This project took quite some time to complete between finally finding the right sapphire via Instagram (I purchased from ceylon blue sapphires), finding the antique old mine cut side stones through distinctive gem, purchasing an antique platinum watch and having my husband cut it up for the diamonds for the band, and having cvb design and put it all together. I’ll post some more details on the process in a moment, but for now here are some pics! I can’t stop staring at it 8949F597-F914-47E5-AAE0-3AFBD095C820.jpegDE2C5F2B-635A-4CEE-B3ED-CF8B6E8253AB.jpegEB436EBA-18D8-4E82-9B9C-C4C89330A036.jpegEC482DC8-9B69-4D41-A766-01882B4F124F.jpeg

Omg this is glorious!!! ❤️

What a beautiful ring!

Aww man that blue is mesmerising. And the setting is divine! It looks like the perfect pairing! Enjoy :)

THUD! Incredible

Oh my!! So delicious!!! Love!

Thanks all! I was very nervous about purchasing from an Instagram seller, but Ceylon Blue Sapphires was great. We did have to work through the shut down of outgoing mail for a couple of weeks, which of course happened immediately after I paid. But he remained in good communication throughout and the stone arrived just fine, although a little later than anticipated. I do love this set, and can't stop staring at it!

Woooah:shock:That is a sapphire RING, not little r-ring, but RING.
Do post all the photos! ALL the photos! Include any of just the sapphire if you have them.:kiss2::kiss2:
*added and the band too, the whole story!

Stunning set!

Please do tell us more about your husband cutting up the antique platinum watch. I’m imagining my husband ever attempting something like this in the garage and a bandsaw, and all I can do is snicker!

Omgggggg

LOL. Well he is a small-time jeweler (mostly making handmade hammered metal link-style necklaces... he was very popular for a brief time with a very specific clientele) so I let him buy all of the jewelry tools. It did take him quite a while to remove all of the diamonds, and I still have dozens of small ones left that I need to hawk on eBay or something.

for those with an academic interest, these are the diamonds for the band unset. You can see that the depths were crazy inconsistent. I was worried that they would look crummy in the ring or wouldn’t sparkle enough but in the end you would never know that they weren’t all consistently cut.

That is jaw droppingly beautiful. I love the process, what a special piece. Love those little omcs, like bitty everest peaks

Wow, what a ring.
Now normally I’m very much against demolishing antique watches (the workmanship, the hermitage, the beauty) but in this case I can see that the end result is another heirloom.
The sapphire is stunning, the perfect colour and size.
Anything made by Cvd is gorgeous and the matching diamond band, perfect.

Jaw dropping! Wow!!! Such a beautiful blue, I could stare at it all day.
Enjoy your stunning masterpiece.

Whoa! It’s stunning!

Oh my goodness, that is exquisite!

Gorgeous rings! Great stones and the execution/design are fabulous!

The demolishing of the watch makes me sad, but the rings are stunning!

beautiful! love the color! I also love the combination of the old mine stones and that sapphire, it's just lovely!

It is beautiful. What an amazing project and outcome.

Absolutely gorgeous sapphire!!!

Gorgeous---wear in good health!

Wow, that was totally worth the wait!

This is beautiful! I also love how the gold and the bezel bring out the color of the stone... I would have thought it would have made it darker, but it just pops!

What a ring! The color, the workmanship—gorgeous!

ps—I’m guessing that if you put the leftover diamonds up on loupe troupe, they’d get snatched up!

I will probably do that!
