I had so much fun with this. My (now) 6 year old loves fish. He asked for a fish cake for his birthday. I toyed with making a cake in the shape of a fish, but I'm not that good a baker. I got this idea from an old magazine a few years ago and I made it for his birthday a few weeks ago.
It's just a plain round cake from a mix (strawberry with chocolate icing in between the layers) with butter cream icing (lots of blue and green food color). Then the aquarium rocks are nerds and jelly beans. The plants are fruit roll ups cut into squigles and some other kind of sour candy bits cut into fringes. There are sour gummy worms for sea serpents and of course, colored Gold Fish crackers.
Do you think those kids ate this cake????? NO!!! They picked the candy off, LOL!
