Thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and good vibes.
I spoke with my sister yesterday, and they still don''t have a result. Their response was, "cells take time to grow". She just wants to know, which I can completely understand.
She talked with a nurse on Friday that informed her she could have paid $500 for a special test and found out the very next day. That would have meant that her husband would be in town when they get the results, as opposed to being 6000 miles away like he is now. I think she is still a bit irritated that her doctor didn''t say anything about that option, because all of this worry has now consumed her thoughts for 2 weeks.
I will post an update as soon as we hear something. Thank you again for taking your time to send my family some dust and hope.
Pandora- She was furious. Apparently the nurse said that most people don''t want to pay it. Apparently that is reason enough to not offer it to everyone...
I just got off the phone with my sister, and everything is normal. The baby has all the correct chromosomes and nothing extra!
Thank you again for all of your thoughts! They were definitely felt and VERY much appreciated!
Wahoo! That was what I was sure would come back, with her having no soft markers to go along with the bloodwork, but it''s got to be a big relief to know that all''s ok. Now she can hopefully have a worry-free pregnancy.
that said, i asked our amnio doctor why it takes so long to get the results and how some people have said they have gotten results within a few days and he said that there are two types of testing and that the longer-term one yields more accurate results..and it was a similar response aka growing the cells. basically the shorter-term result tests might not catch everything. so once we heard that i thought ok well i can wait a few weeks to get the most accurate results, might as well if i was having my belly stabbed with a needle right?!
