My setting isn''t made with a matching band. Is this OK?

Hey all,

Just wondering if it''s common for people to buy a setting from a designer or jeweler when no matching wedding band is in production. For example, I''m buying the Vatche royal x-prong with princess channel setting but a matching band for this ring is not made by Vatche.

First of all, I don''t know why this is (maybe it''s because of the taper in the ring). Secondly, is it common for people to buy a setting when no matching band is available? Would I just have a band custom made later? Is a flush fit band possible with this setting. The link to the setting in shown below. Thanks.

I don''t think my Tacori setting has a matching band. I got a B&M (that sold us our setting) to custom make one (it is actually a princess, channel band!) I couldn''t find EXACTLY what I wanted ready made. I doubt anyone would think they don''t "match."

BigDiamonds, I have seen that setting. The problem I have with that one is that the band is 4mm thick. I''m thinking this will be too big for the 5.39 x 5.46 center stone. I think the royal x-prong will help it look bigger than the x-prong. Plus my wife''s got size 4.75 fingers. I just think it will look too thick. And, my wife''s not a fan of the thick bands anyways. Do you think it would be easy to have a band custom made for the roayl x-prong? I know that it tapers at the bottom as well as the top.

diamondseeker, thanks for the links! I think I like the memoires the best. In all honesty, the wedding band probably won''t come along for awhile. We are already married and we have plain white gold, 2.5mm bands. The new engagement ring is costing a pretty penny so it might be awhile until we buy the bands. No doubt, she will get hers before me if we don''t get them at the same time because she just won''t be wearing the gold band with the platinum engagement ring. Thanks for all the help.
