has come to an end. It will be getting delivered next week.

I started looking for a Royal Asscher and had some shipped from Lita Asscher to a B&M for viewing. It didn''t work out, they wanted to much for a 1.11 H IF stone. There weren''t any RAs available that size or bigger that would fit my budget, I would either have to look at a 1.04 H and be a couple thousand under budget or look at non-branded Asschers.

I was a bit dissappointed and sleepless so I was just browsing different online diamond sites with virtual diamond databases. I came across a site that listed notes in the results. The notes were either supplier notes or from GIA note section. One note said "ROYAL ASSCHER CUT laser inscribed on girdle". I thought for the price listed it was too good to be true, absolutely no RA premium and priced like all the other 1.5 ct asschers. I looked through various price scope vendor listing to see if they had the listing as well. I choose Mark at ERD because from the reviews it seemed people had great experiences in dealing with him. Long story short it was a real RA and Mark was great to work with.

Pricescope has been great in terms of education and connecting me with great vendors.

Man oh man do I love RAs! It''s beautiful!!

I notice that in these photos there is a tinge of blue, is there fluoro in the stone?? :) When you posted a pic in the other thread I didn''t really notice any hue, so maybe it''s just the flash.

What is the color on the stone...I''ve been meaning to ask that.

Gorgeous stone, I really love it and I''m so, so glad you didn''t give up the search...you were patient and meticulous and because of that you have a great stone and it sounds like you got a very nice deal on it, so bravo!!!

Thanks everyone, still trying to decide if I should keep it, j/k.

Complete pecs are in the first post, but it is 1.5 G VS1. No fluorescence, no flash, the wall in my living room is aqua so that might be it and the royal asscher box it came in is blue and just off camera.

wow, what an amazing find. it''s absolutely stunning! congratulations!

how will you set it?

Ah, that explains the blue tint!! I really love it...the patterning is beautiful, the contrast, the windmills! Congrats on finding such a lovely diamond! YAY!

That is so beautiful! Just out of curiosity, what differentiates a Royal Asscher from a regular one?

Would you mind revealing which database you found such a gorgeous diamond on? I went to the Royal Asscher website, and it only listed one dealer in the US.

Generic asschers are generally classified as square emerald cuts, RA are classified as "cut cornered square step cut". The RA has extra facets and I believe they are on the pavilion. The RA characteristics are wide corners, high crowns and are cut on the deep side. Some and all of these characteristics can be found on generic asschers.

I found it on tradeshop.com because they list the the GIA comments. RAs are generally only available from authorized vendors unless you find one that has somehow gotten back into the system.

There are various US vendors for RA. The only ones I found that had online inventory where Knox jewelers and a vendor in Florida.

Stunning stone!!!! I love it!!! I can''t wait to see how you set it. It''s going to be one incredible ring!

Thanks for the info. I had forgotten about tradeshop.com. I hadn''t visited that site for a while. Guess I''ll have to check it out again. Your stone is beautiful. Did you decide to keep it?

I really, really, really love a RA stone. that one is stunning.

Wow, the Real Life pics of this RA are just amazing! I love RAs, and I can NOT wait to see how you set this!

Thanks everyone. Yes, I''m keeping it - can''t find a reason no to.

As far as setting, 95% sure I will go with a canturi cubism claw setting.

Where did you find it? What site? I am looking for one just like that only 2ct!

OMG jplouis That is stunning :)

Canturi does fantastic settings, I am very partial to there gothic setting but I just looked up the one you mentioned and it is fantastic :)

Congrats beautiful stone :)

Are RAs more expensive than the generic?

Wow. That is drop dead gorgeous!

Sarah, RAs are generally more expensive than generic. I was lucky in that I found an "older" stone that Mark at ERD called in and the owner priced it without any RA premium, but generally you would have to go through a RA dealer.
