I have LOVED reading this forum lately. What a wonderful online community!

I found this dress on my first trip out which happenned to be alone. I recently tried it on again for FMIL and FSIL. It is a definate splurge so I want to be sure before ordering - what are your thoughts?? This was the sample, and not clipped in the back, so I think when fitted it will be closer fitting at the waist. Also, I am doing it in all-over lace applique rather than the horizontal strips you see at the bottom. And FINALLY I get to add buttons all the way down.

Honest opinions PLEASE!!

Also, for anyone who has experience. I measure for this dress and then it is made. When this happens, do they usually still require alterations afterward?

It''s gorgeous! If you love it, then I''d go for it.

They will measure you and order the closest size possible according to your measurements. Most likely alterations will still be needed.

The dress is gorgeous. If you love it, I say go for it.

It''s really beautiful and appears to fit your shape very well.

It is really lovely, but does look a little big. I know you mentioned that, but you have such a great figure so make sure it fits like a glove.

Just a smidge of advice, before you absolutely make a decision, maybe try on a few more from some other stores. Also, I bet you could find some very similar dresses for less...I feel like I have seen this style before. I think the Maggie Sottero and Sotter & Midgley lines are really lovely and reasonably priced.

I''m only saying this because I jumped the gun on a dress that I tried on super early on...it was the second dress I tried on and I did really love it. But, some things changed over time and I ended up finding my dream dress and losing a $500 deposit on the other one. Not sure how early out you are, but it can''t hurt to try on a few more just to be sure.

Best of luck!!

I think it''s beautiful, and you look great in it!

Its very pretty. I think it would look great with a ribbon belt and a lovely broach at the waist (over on the side).
Would sort of give it a focal point.

beautiful!!

I think it''s really pretty. It kind of reminds me of Jessica Simpson''s vera wang gown.

I think it''s beautiful and looks great on.

I think its very beautiful. I''m a fan of lace.

I learned today at my first fitting that when you do order in your size, there is still a hip to bust ratio that, if it isn''t your exact ratio, will require alterations. I ordered a size 4 dress and it fits great, however I have itty bitty hips and butt, and so its huge around that area, and the seamstress is taking a couple inches in around those areas. So unless your figure is proportionally exact, I would say you''ll need some alterations.

It`s beautiful and looks great on you! I vote for go for it!

I think it''s a beautiful gown, but I''d like to echo the advice to try some more on before you make your final purchase.

As for your other question--my gown was ordered according to my measurements, but they still had to do some alterations once it came in.

You have a gorgeous figure, so I''m guessing that you''ll look amazing in a lot of different gowns. Have some fun trying a bunch on before you jump into a purchase. Bring your girlfriends, make a day of it.

it''s gorgeous! Definitely try on dresses from several makers and at several price points to make sure you want to spend that much money on a dress (and that there isn''t a dress you like more:-)

gorgeous

I think it''s gorgeous, too!

That was exactly my thought! And I loooooved Jessica''s dress. It was bridal perfection.

very pretty!

Ooooh....what a lovely dress. It looks good on you. Go for it, girl!

That is absolutely gorgeous. I agree with other posters that you should continue to shop around a bit, just for the fun and excitement of it, but this dress is a great option.

I totally agree with Rock of Love. Many designers have all-lace gowns with sweetheart necklines, so if this dress is more than you were hoping to spend I would definitely look at other designers who have similar gowns that cost less. Really, this is a fairly popular style (because it''s so pretty) so I''d shop around as it sounds like you have plenty of time before your wedding. Also, you mentioned that you''d get the dress in all lace rather than with the stripes of lace on this sample gown. Honestly, that would scare me a little because what if you don''t like how they layer on the lace all over the dress? Then you''d be stuck. I''d much rather buy a dress where I''ve seen the *exact* design of the dress I''m getting (rather than hope I''d like a variation of a sample gown I tried on). It''s just not worth the chance in my opinion.

Good luck finding your gown!

i think that gown is beautiful on you!! but i agree that you should look some more before deciding. i went through (and am still struggling with) some second guessing with my dress so advice is to shop around so you can be 100% sure. besides, you only get to shop for bridal gowns once so do it up!

as for your question about made to measure gowns...my dress is being custom made to measure. i''m getting measured for it in a few weeks even though i bought it in september, they like to wait to as close to the wedding day as possible to eliminate too many additional alterations. i''m sure that even though it''s being custom cut, they''ll still need to do minor tweaks here and there. it''ll definitely cut down on the overall alteration cost though. the designer who makes my dress does the measurement appointment and 3 fittings all the way up to the week of the wedding. it''s a bit scary that my dress doesn''t technically exist yet but it''s a relief to know that it''s being custom built to my proportions and will fit perfectly on the day of.

It''s beautiful, but I don''t like the bit of lace/fabric by the bust line. It doesn''t seem to fall well. It does fit your shape beautifully! I would just have the bit of fabric/lace (I can''t tell which it is) tacked down by the bust line and call it good

thanks so much for the helpful advice everyone!! all such great advice. luckily i DO have awhile so could stand to look around a bit more - if anyone comes across or knows off the top of their head any super similiar gowns from other designers (this is anne barge) i would LOVE a heads up! i have surprisingly had a bit of trouble finding gowns which meet all the criteria - all-over lace, a-line shape, strapless sweetheart. thanks again:)

It looks SO pretty on you!!!!!!!!

The dress looks beautiful on you! But also remember that it shouldn''t be too hard for an alteration place to make a sweetheart neckline if you happen to find a different lace dress that doesn''t already have one. Shop around and have fun! And if you find that you still can''t stop thinking about this dress, then go back and try it on again to make sure you still love it.

I love it! The lace is stunning and so feminine.

I also actually like the horizontal 'strips' of lace on the skirt because it adds interest and the satin and lace combo is lovely.

How about this one?

I think it''s absolutely stunning and looks beautiful on you. The only thing I would suggest is make sure you are comfortable with the low neckline (you have a great figure and it looks fine, just make sure you won''t feel self-conscious with the cleavage).
