My Painting Sold!!!!!

OK, had the date wrong and I actually get the ring tomorrow. If I can figure out the computers at the home I'm staying in, pictures will be posted in all their glory.

My summers sorta signify the end of one year and the beginning of the next, so while I've been on vacation, I've been dreaming up my next series of work. I'm gonna continue doing a series of large animal portraits: more geese, swan, and weiner dogs come to mind. I also love the intelligence in the face of pigs, so maybe them also. I'm also gonna continue to explore the classical nude. In my original photo at the beginning of the post, you see me standing next to 2 charcoal nudes. I wanna push these. My idea is to draw them life size or slightly larger then life, and try to come up with a more dynamic composition. Third, I live in a very beautiful ancient town in Holland with many a gorgeous view: from views of the canals, gorgeous 16th century buildings, houseboats, windmills, etc. I mean... you can't get more Dutch, know what I mean? I want to paint these scenes, but hopefully not schmaltzy... like picturesque but not just pictoral muzak. And also I'll continue my portrait work.

It's a yummy delicious full plate. Last but not least, encompassing all of this, I am gonna better devise the business side of my art. Part of the reason my painting sold was based on the obvious: price and market. Often, for us creative folk, this can get forgotten. I have a couple of different markets in which I can sell: various street markets, exhibitions, galleries, commissions, etc. And what sells in one for a certain price ain't necessarily gonna sell in another. So, like a real business person, I am tightening up my business plan. Of course, there will be some pieces that will be made just cause I want to, with no market in mind, but what I want is for the other pieces to support that. And I want the other pieces to support my special diamond projects :naughty:

So my planning and sketches are happening now and I start work when I get back to Holland in late August.
