Okay, so despite wanting to hold off on the actual purchase for another week or so, I now have a stone in mind.

AGSL 000 H&A
Size: 1.2 - 1.4 carats
Color: H
Clarity: VVS2
HCA: 1.2 Excellent

Depth: 62.0%
Table: 53.7%
Crown Angle: 34.8%
Pavilion: 40.7%

Symmetry: Ideal
Polish: Ideal
Girdle: 1.3% to 3.7% (thin-med) - Faceted
Culet: Pointed (none)
Fluorescence: None

Price/carat: $7170

Opinions? Good value? Excellent value?

Um. Why is it priced per carat like that... and why is the carat weight a RANGE??? AGS doesn''t grade like that.

Forgive me. It was my decision to provide the details that way. I meant no offense.

I did this out of a concern that if it does represent good value, it may be gone before I pull the trigger - the same reason that I have not provided a link to the diamond itself. I don't want to attract extra attention to it until I've had some time to consider.... and get opinions.

Perhaps that is a foolish concern but I'm a cautious fellow... especially on the web.

Again, no offense intended.

No offense, just was worried the dealer was shady. Makes perfect sense. We have stone hijacks here from time to time, especially with RB. Good call. Looks good to me, but then, I''m not an expert.

Thanks for sticking with me ''Gypsy''.

I have yet another question, and this one is about certs and the inclusions section...

I noticed that GIA certs only list the inclusions in the ''Key to Symbols'' area that are actually present in the stone being certified.

AGLS certs seem a bit different. They appear to list all possible inclusions in the Key - at least most of the time.
I ran across a AGLS cert today that only had the actually present inclusions in the stone on the cert. I guess it was an oddball?

Is the general rule, AGLS certs show the full range of inclusion in the Key and GIA certs only show the actually present inclusions in the Key?

Don''t know. I know you were trying to stick to one thread. But I would post your Cert questions and HCA questions in other threads. Good luck!

Don''t worry about me hijacking your diamond, I won''t be buying for 3-4 weeks.

''GPG'' - Thanks for that reassurance but, it was something I read in another thread that caused me the most concern - that plus my natural sense of caution.

Cheers!

In fact, just this weekend I "learned" that I probably should be shopping for a princess cut. Personally I like rounds but she made a comment this weekend that she prefers princess cuts. I''ve spent probaby two weeks learning everything I could about rounds and now I feel like that was all for naught. Todays starts my princess cut education. Anything for my princess, I guess.

Good luck GPG!

If you have the time, you can see the specs on the stone I have selected in my other thread - couldn''t keep it in one the way I had hoped.

All the best to you and your princess!
