Thank you @meely !
But in my mind the pics don’t come close!
I will keep trying.
Oh and I love love love that emerald ring of yours and remember reading the post when you got it!

Aww thanks EFleon. I’m sure you will be able to improve your photos. My pictures aren’t great either they always have a slightly blurry look! Now I am thinking I need to get a macro lens too (what ever that might be!)

Just have to add this. I had a vague sense of deja vu after saying I needed a macro lens. Opened a drawer to see right at the top an unused macro lens that my husband bought me at least two years ago :lol-2:

I'm having the hardest time with my OEC as well. The flower pattern and facets are clear and beautiful to my eyes but photographing has been a real struggle! I really struggle with holding the phone steadily and the angles are tricky with OECs as well, depending on tilt.

My favorite photo of my OEC bracelet was taken here on a sunny day:

And this is what the picture looks like without any filters or special lenses:

Please persevere with the pictures, because I would LOVE to see more!

She is a stunning ring!

The only thing wrong with your fantastic stone, and your whole exquisite ring, is that it doesn't belong to MEEEE! Fortunately, you can rectify this easily by sending it over here.

Haha. Yes. But what does one DO with said macro lens?
I’m still researching....and the PS-ers have been so kind but I’m simply trying to catch up!

@Moonie thank you so much for that!
We are in the exact same boat.
I know she’s a winner. Sometimes a “rainbow blaster” and other times a checkerboard Ice Queen but I can’t capture.
Perhaps that part of the charm.
No virtual.
Only real life!
In the present moment.

Thank you so much.
That means a lot.

I think we should start a thread advocating timeshare or joint-custody of some of the fabulous OEC’s on PS!
Anyone in????

Your ring is spectacular! I am in love with your band as well. I inherited my great-great Aunt's 6 carat OEC and I found it was difficult to capture it in color. It was easier for me to capture the stone in black and white. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day.

I can so relate to this! Just got an E color after sending back a G that was looking too warm for me. The E looks fantastic and I’ll see it sparkling away like mad, I immediately try to snap a pic with my brand new iPhone and nope - it looks positively icky most of the time! Then I think it’ll be better with my real camera and macro lens - still nope. The G color stone photographed beautifully, even better than it looked in person. I wonder if it could be the whiter / more colorless the stone, the tougher for the camera to find the proper exposure. And/or maybe the color makes it appear to have less contrast. I do know my iPhone always makes things brighter automatically and that likely doesn’t help at all. I worked as a wedding photographer for years and shooting the rings was always the hardest thing for me - not even trying to get the diamond looking its best - just keeping from moving at all and macro focus and setting up a decent looking still life, usually at night so having to add artificial lighting.. etc. As others have mentioned - getting great photos first and foremost very much depends on lighting (outside, indirect sun is ideal) and minimizing movement - which is easier to accomplish in wonderful light. Good luck!

Glad to hear it’s not just me.
I DO think it has something to do with the high color.
I trust my eyes. They are consistent that she’s an icy sparkle blaster!!

Libraries on the island of Kauai just started an ukulele lending program. So we should be allowed to borrow jewelry, too, right?

Aunt hazels ring 3.jpg I need to find a top down picture. I am in love with the mounting- it is a Tiffany mounting from the 1930's. More than anything, it was the woman who owned it that means the most. I don't think a kinder, lovelier soul ever lived. She was very special.
