Thank you @meely !
But in my mind the pics don’t come close!
I will keep trying.
Oh and I love love love that emerald ring of yours and remember reading the post when you got it!
Just have to add this. I had a vague sense of deja vu after saying I needed a macro lens. Opened a drawer to see right at the top an unused macro lens that my husband bought me at least two years ago![]()
I'm having the hardest time with my OEC as well. The flower pattern and facets are clear and beautiful to my eyes but photographing has been a real struggle! I really struggle with holding the phone steadily and the angles are tricky with OECs as well, depending on tilt.
@Alex TPlease persevere with the pictures, because I would LOVE to see more!
She is a stunning ring!
The only thing wrong with your fantastic stone, and your whole exquisite ring, is that it doesn't belong to MEEEE! Fortunately, you can rectify this easily by sending it over here.
Your ring is spectacular! I am in love with your band as well. I inherited my great-great Aunt's 6 carat OEC and I found it was difficult to capture it in color. It was easier for me to capture the stone in black and white. I hope that helps. Have a wonderful day.
I can so relate to this! Just got an E color after sending back a G that was looking too warm for me. The E looks fantastic and I’ll see it sparkling away like mad, I immediately try to snap a pic with my brand new iPhone and nope - it looks positively icky most of the time! Then I think it’ll be better with my real camera and macro lens - still nope. The G color stone photographed beautifully, even better than it looked in person. I wonder if it could be the whiter / more colorless the stone, the tougher for the camera to find the proper exposure. And/or maybe the color makes it appear to have less contrast. I do know my iPhone always makes things brighter automatically and that likely doesn’t help at all. I worked as a wedding photographer for years and shooting the rings was always the hardest thing for me - not even trying to get the diamond looking its best - just keeping from moving at all and macro focus and setting up a decent looking still life, usually at night so having to add artificial lighting.. etc. As others have mentioned - getting great photos first and foremost very much depends on lighting (outside, indirect sun is ideal) and minimizing movement - which is easier to accomplish in wonderful light. Good luck!
Haha. Yes. But what does one DO with said macro lens?
I’m still researching....and the PS-ers have been so kind but I’m simply trying to catch up!
@glitterata
I think we should start a thread advocating timeshare or joint-custody of some of the fabulous OEC’s on PS!
Anyone in????
OMGoodness!
That’s spectacular.
Can you share a B/W pic??!
