Photo tips for novices:

With standard fixed lense cameras, you can't get any closer than 1 foot to the object in the foreground. Sometimes less, but unlikely.

If your pictures are blurry, back away from the subject. Scan or import the photos into your computer, and use Photoshop (or similar) to zoom in. Use a sharpen filter to clean up any fuzziness as a result of the image resize.

I'm also interested in radiant pictures!

agreed, take the camera a bit back from the ring and re-snap, if you are using digital it's easier to snap and discard until you get it right.
