I am having WF make me a pair of diamond huggie style hoops in WG but could use some help. Should I go for 3 prongs or 4 prongs. Think shared prong style hoops. Many of you helped me with my asscher RHR so I felt it only natural to ask for your assistance with this project as well.

I am getting 2 price quotes tomorrow. One will be for 10 pointer ACA's and the other is for 15 pointer ACA's. Each hoop will have 5 stones . TIA, Lisa

hmmmm....i need pictures to decide!
20.gif
did they have any suggestions as to whether or not one would be better than the other?

Sorry Sis, you know how I am with pics, Lol!!!

4 prongs

The only help I can offer is to give you MY shipping address! UMMMMMMMMUMMM. Sounds delish! (And I don't even have pierced ears ... though I'd go under the "knife" for those!

)

Brainstorm: asscher five stone huggies + bloodletting + big AMEX bill for February. [$$)][$$)]

(but sadly asschers just won't sparkle like those ACA's will on your lucky, lucky ears!!!

)

p.s. -- I stumbled upon these looking for sapphire inspiration on another thread .. and want 'em SO badly

Hmm well isn''t shared prong technically 2 prongs? 3 prongs on hoop earrings, don''t know if I have seen that. If you want the extra metal and security, then go 4 prongs.

But personally I kind of like the pave beaded look with stones on the hoop earrings rather than 3 or 4 prongs but not sure if they''d recommend that with such large stones!

Mara you're right. I was loving how my studs are set with the 3 prong martini setting and was wondering if there was some way to incorporate that look in a hoop??? ETA, the 3 prongs not a martini basket....

I''m trying to imagine 3 prongs and can''t visualise it!

I''ll go with shared prongs to match your diamond band!

I can''t picture three pronged either.

I say go for 4 prongs, especially since each stone will be a good size!

Yup, can''t picture three prongs either....

For stones that size, I also say go with the four prongs

Maybe something like Flower's new tennis bracelet, only modified for hoop earrings? Sorta? Kinda? Maybe?
33.gif

PS BTW, whattaFUN project! Yay!!!

3 prongs for earrings, if it''s even possible, seems like it''d look alot like the 3 prong bracelets that have been posted previously. Kind of like a triangle look which I am not super fond of.

Actually now that I think of it, for huggies which are typically very small right? I''d say shared prong so that you pretty much only see sparkle. I think 4 prong (or a 3 prong) in hoops that small would look too metally.

I don''t have an answer for you without being able to see how each would look, but it sounds like an exciting problem!!! Have fun creating your new huggie hoops.

PICTURES! PICTURES! We need PICTURES!!!!!!

I vote for the way that shows the least metal.

Since these are for the ears and won''t get any wear and tear, it seems to me losing diamonds shouldn''t be too much of an issue...

What fun!

Yes the look I had in mind was kind of like flowers new bracelet. Kind of different for hoops. Bob at WF said they could do it no problem. But in my own head I was waffeling. Thinking I should do the more conventional look. I always like something a little different, so we''ll see. Keep''em coming they are helping. I need to decide soon.

Well I don''t have pierced ears so I have a hard time picturing either option, but I know I''ll drool over both!!! Lisa, I''ll happily post pics for you if you can direct me to some or e-mail!
:)

I''d have to go with the 4 prongs for security reasons.

Single shared-prong:

Thanks Feathers for the examples!!! I have to say that the single shared prong would make me mighty nervous!!

Yo ho ho ... that single shared prong one is a jaw dropper though ain''t it!!! GROOVY

Kaleigh
sounds like a neat project.

i like the 2 prong shared. 4 prong might look too square?

I am seraching picture 3 prong now
if I found it I will post picture

so far I like 2 prong, but from the picture the prongs looks too round and big
I like more sharp... I mean HW prongs like.and I like the single prong one!

i think shared prong (2) would look lovely! besides, chances are you won''t be banging your ears on anything.... unlike rings and hands.
31.gif
sounds like a fun decision!

ps, your ring is awesome. i love pear side stones! .... dreamy....

I can''t find 3 prong
I agree with mara that 3 prong is like a triangle look .
however all depends style of 3 prong and how metal is small

here is 2 prong?

600x600-0544_2.jpg

I think 4 prong is tend to look square.
so it can be very big one potion of sparkle.( I am not sure if my way explain is well enough ???)
like a river of sparkle

however if setting make look diamond looks Constriction,

it can be look not only sparkle but more sparkle Constriction for each diamond .
it's can show indivisible sparkle when your head is moving.

here is another 2 prong? <-- single prong.

this is my friends 3 prong bracelet,
it''s look triangle than square or round

it''s shows more Contrast of diamond.

that last earring picture looked like single prong flower?

i actually am loving the single prong look the best for the huggies, definitely not 4 prong (that picture is icky) and the shared prong could be a nice 2nd option but i would say single prong. also in terms of security that would not bother me because they are earrings and if the baskets underneath are strong enough (see flowers gold bottom example) then it would seem like a single with the basket holding the culet would be secure enough for earrings that don''t get banged around alot?

I vote for single shared prong, then two shared prong is my second favorite look. Probably the least amount of metal would look best.

Mara, yes Last one is single prong.
I like single prong one too
30.gif
more contrast too

here is another
