Platinum ring with a stone finish.

It's a size 9 and fits slightly loose (it can pretty easily be slipped off and on but it is slightly cool out so idk).

It's a 5mm width. Not sure if it looks too dainty on my finger or not. What do you think?

Looks a bit thin for your finger but just my opinion

Yeah, you might be happier with the proportions of an 8-9 mm ring. And, bonus, a wider ring (of the same size) will fit a bit better.

Thanks for the responses. One more photo for perspective:

I don't think it looks 'dainty', but equally I don't think it looks 'chunky' - it just looks like a no-nonsense, practical, nicely finished, good quality wedding ring, that's not overtly trying to 'say' anything about the wearer :)

If you are asking if it looks dainty, I would take that as you're wishing it was wider - which is fine, personal aesthetic taste is always individual :)

I like 'chunky' myself, but I had to buy some 6mm and 8mm stainless steel sizer rings off Etsy to work out what size was *too* wide! I felt 6mm was smaller than I preferred but 8mm looked 'too much' for my fingers. On that basis I went for 7mm and it's a perfect sweet spot of size and comfort and aesthetics :))

I can't remember the seller's name on Etsy but search for 'sizer rings' or 'trial rings' and he should come up. (He also does damascus steel rings, IIRC!) Buy a set of 6mm and a set of 8mm, in size 9 and then one increment each side of size 9, and wear each option for a day in a range of temperatures!

P.S. Great choice in chunky Seiko Divers' watches!

I really like it!! I think it's a nice width on you. Looks maybe a little loose though...do you think it will fall off?

img_7219.jpgI wear a 4mm plat band from e-weddingbands.com and have good coverage.
I think yours looks fine.

If you switch to a 6mm, it will fit a bit more snugly.

IMO it also looks more "dainty" because the outside is flat instead of domed, so thinner presence overall. I don't think it's a bad look though, but if your style is chunky maybe try something domed?

The flat is actually considerably more expensive too. I wonder how a 5mm domed would look vs a 6mm flat.

I think it looks good

I think its personal taste. My DH is a size 10 and likes his 9 mm wide band. But, like PP, we bought bands of several widths in silver for him to wear before he made a final decision. He would not like a domed outside as it felt "weird" between his fingers. He also preferred the lighter feeling of titanium.

He went with titanium, but of those on the platinum options, he'd personally go for this one.

I like it. It has a modern look. Can you get a smaller size? I would worry about the ring falling off. Especially in the winter.

I lije it as is in terms of width. Perhaps you do need a smaller size though

HI:

Looks great.

cheers--Sharon

I think it looks great.

Personally I really like it. I think it looks cool and edgy and perfectly proportioned on your hand. Ultimately though it's your ring and you've gotta love it - you'll be wearing it for a long time! :)

Here you go - this chap is a great seller :)

Might cost you, what, $80 for a couple of sets? But that's a small extra percentage on the cost of a Pt ring, and is a small price to pay for working out the size that is exactly right and perfectly comfortable!

Plus you have some 'spares' to wear if you don't want to wear your expensive 'proper' wedding ring for any reason, such as doing potentially damage-inducing outdoor activities or working on the car :)

I really like the ring, it is simple and to the point. I like the width on you but like others have said, you are the one wearing it and have to love it!

There is nothing danity about that ring! It is very masculine! I think the edges would bug me, because I like softened edges, but as long as it feels good to you, that's what matters! You always want rings to be loose in cool weather and perfect and not tight in the hottest weather.

An alternate tungsten band is a great idea. They don't scratch at all.

hey all, thank you so much for the replies.

the ring is loose to the point where if i shake my hand violently for a few seconds, it slides off completely. i assume this is a red flag, even in cooler weather?

i think an 8 3/4 would be a perfect fit (even though i went to 2 jewelers, including Tiffany, who said i was a 9).

that said, e-Wedding Bands is having a 25% off sale for Memorial Day so I may size down a bit and then add a mm to the width of the band to see how it looks.

OP
What about a domed look?

I think it looks great! Very masculine and modern. I love the finish!

For comparison sake here's the 6mm in a size 8.75

While it slides on and off relatively easily it actually feels kind of tight and just slightly uncomfortable

I love the 5mm!

I prefer the 6mm on you (but thats my opinion...what look do you like)? When you go wider in a band you dont usually have to go larger because
it is covering more of your finger. Probably need a size 9.

I'm on the fence. Truthfully I think I like the 5. My fiancee likes the 6.

I like the 6mm! But maybe you should have stuck with size 9, as wider rings fit more snugly. Did you get comfort fit?

I still like the 5mm on you, I also find thicker bands uncomfortable. You are the one that has to wear it!!!!;-)
