He said: "admit it, you are powerless over diamonds" then he said I should start Jewelry Anonymous. Ha.. I was looking at the eternity baguette bands over in SMTB... so pretty... so I said "I need a new ring" which started his annoying remarks.. ;-) .. I stand for diamonds.

Mine says “what are you looking at those for?” :roll

Well, DH is coming to accept the little diamond habit, but sure thinks I'm a bit crazy. But whatever makes me happy, I guess...;)2
He does understand the research part though... he's always looking at real estate and car info, even if he's not in the market.

My dh pretty much supports my diamond habit. Emotionally and literally lol. His philosophy is whatever makes me happy makes him happy (and he knows I won't spend more than we can afford). It's hard to resist sometimes.8)

My DH just ignores all of it now. Last time I bought something of any size, he gave me $ for Christmas and said: get what you would like. That could have been anything, clothes, a new sofa, but of course I got a ring :P2

Are we married to the same man?

So I was told by a ps member to tell my husband that jewelry is art and it feeds my soul. I can't be souless, right?

He replied that I would probably sell my soul for some pieces. He may be right!

Same!

HI:

After decades of non shopping my DH has turned into a online shopping nut! He's the one who needs "help"!! :lol-2:

cheers--Sharon

Mine says "What are you shopping for now?"

Too funny! Love all the responses!

Of course, the best response for any DH is 'yes, Dear', 'whatever makes you happy', 'buy what you want'.

My hubby keeps encouraging me to buy jewelry, but he has his limits

After buying a Tiffany Yellow cushion, Fancy Intense Yellow Bracelet and Pendant, Cut to Order 2.21 F-SI1 CBI diamond, 2.79 F-VS1 CBI diamond, two F-VS1/2 .53 CBI sidestones, he finally put his foot down. He said that if I wanted the 2.31 Q-VVS2 CBI diamond that I had to pay for it myself. Fine, I did that and am making my very first halo ring. :lol-2:
I was already established before we married and had my own accounts, in fact I own the house that we live in.

Mine surprised me a few days ago. I’ve just started my Gemology course and he came out with (he already has 3 degrees including a Masters in International Finance) “lm thinking of enrolling in a Mineralogy degree. I’ll work out where to find them and you can identify what they are!”.
Here in Australia we have a few areas for gems ie sapphire and opals the obvious two. I’ve always had a bit of a dream to go “prospecting for fun” when we are both retired from our “real” jobs !

Thankfully my husband grew up with a mom who was diamond obsessed.

Ha, mine grew up with the opposite. A MIL who eschews all "frivolous" things. Yet, somehow it all worked out. He ended up with me despite it all.
We are lucky ladies girlfriend. :halo:

Mine too! My puritanical MIL thinks anything that is not absolute necessity is wasteful. :roll

I think we were less broke when you only hung out on the shippers forum and wrote fanfic.

Haha I write for fun in my spare time and he heartily approves of it because it is creative, long and tortured and FREE! In comparison I am VERY efficient and fast in terms of knowing what I want with my rings and what settings I want. I churn out those coloured stone rings pretty quickly! The only thing stopping me is limited funds!

He's always saying to me "If only you updated your fanfics with the same dedication."

He's not a bad sort though! I wanted to cheap out and get the 1 ctw Whiteflash bangle and he urged me onto the 2.5 ctw.

Maybe we should start a group for our similarly minded MILs where they could groan and complain about their frivolous wasteful DILs:lol:. It’s the least we can do for them after all they created such amazing DHs for us. :appl:

Rofl missy, we owe them at least that!!

When my XMIL saw my engagement ring for the first time she went pale, muttered Oh. My. God. under her breath. And bolted from the room.

Keep in mind this was the original ring. I, on purpose, never let her see any of the upgrades, LOL.

OMG indeed!

Lightening Ridge produces the most beautiful black opals in the world.

Then your the boss!..:mrgreen2:

Basically it was my husband, who introduced me to the world of diamonds. I always tell him, you are the one, who spoiled me.
In our culture an engagement ring is still not usual, but he insisted on to buy me one. Then he bought me a set of diamond earrings and pendant as a morning gift/dower (sorry I don’t know the right word in English). To our first anniversary I have got a diamond bangle. So he really is a nice husband, but he brought me to this path, and now he has to put up with the beast which he created!!
