These forums were extremely helpful to me as I set about to make my first diamond purchase for an engagement ring. I lurked for weeks and found answers to every question I could think of. It was so refreshing to be able to have my questions answered by people who were not trying to sell me anything. As a poor grad student on a budget with ZERO knowledge about diamonds the knowledge I gleaned from your discussions was invaluable to me and helped me to dodge some bad decisions.

Here is what I settled on:
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?find=1&cid=130&item=1159655

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 0.84
Cut: Ideal
Color: I
Clarity: SI1
Certificate: GIA

Depth: 60.3%
Table: 57.0%
Crown: 33
Pavilion: 40.8
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Medium to slightly thick
Culet: None
Fluorescence: Medium
Measurements: 6.11*6.16*3.70

And the setting:

The setting is a Jabel.. I really wanted to find something unique, and I haven''t seen a lot of rings that look like that one. I wanted some character in the diamond too, which is why I sought out some fluorescence (it helps offset the I-color too!). It''s eye clean and-- as you''ll see if you idealscope it-- cut perfectly. Since so many participants on these forums provided helpful information to me I just felt compelled to say thank you and share my purchase. Oh! Almost forgot: big endorsements to James Allen and Craig Coyne jewelers!

Very nice! I like that setting - very unique!!!

This is very neat! I like rose gold a lot!
