I purchased this ring from eBay seller diamondten a few weeks ago for $2805 and took it to my jeweler. He put it under his microscope, and we didn't even get to talk about whether or not the color/clarity of the diamond was accurate. The damage to the platinum on the underside of the ring was shocking. It was also so close to the diamond and so bad that if I wanted him to try and repair it, he could not guarantee his work.

The seller was kind enough to offer to repair the ring at no charge. I did not think the repair would be satisfactory, so I asked to return the ring. The seller did accept a return and was easy enough to deal with, though I was still within the return period thankfully.

So I checked eBay, and sure enough, the ring is back up for sale. I can't say whether or not the ring has recently been repaired by the seller or not. I can say that the description is still exactly the same, and the condition of the ring is still listed as "VERY GOOD CONDITION." So if anyone was bidding on or planning to purchase this ring, I would run for the hills. I would also be wary of this seller, as this ring may have appeared to have been in "very good condition," but it was very, very far from it.

Yes, I know it is buyer beware on eBay, but I feel like a jeweler should represent what they are selling accurately.

I have since purchased the below ring from a different seller, and everything checked out with it, save for a little repair work, which is fine by me. The ring is much more beautiful in person, and I am very happy with it.

I thought that ring had been up for sale before..! I think I was watching it then too. I was wondering about the condition/cut of the stone.

Some may simply be interested in the stone itself (like me!) rather than the setting, but it's too bad that there's no way to warn people who may be interested in the whole piece.

Glad you found something you love!

agreed. Some will buy just for the stone- but it is a shame there can't be a warning system.

can you post feedback on his ebay site? That may be one way of warning others.

That is so true- buyer be ware. I'm sure you did your research and communicated prior to purchase and yet, we are left to trust that the answers are honest ones. Not fair, is it?
