I have been toying with the idea of having my dress altered into a sweetheart neckline. Is it possible with my dress? It has some beading/lace at the top, so I''m not really sure how it would work. Also, would it look good? I loooved the sweetheart necklines when I was gown shopping, but this is the dress that ultimately won out.

I won''t have my first fitting for months, but I have some downtime at work today, so I thought I''d get some opinions.

Also, I guess this the post where I introduce my dress. It''s Maggie Sottero Sandrina, and it doesn''t really look anything like the picture on me. It came in last week, and my mom went to pick it up, but she lives 15 hours away so I won''t get to actually try it on in my size until I get home for Thanksgiving. I''ll post more pics then!

Thanks!

We really should see pictures of you in the dress before we can weigh in. Do you have any pics from your shopping?

Going from the pic you posted, I''d got with a softer sweetheart not the very dramatic Heart-top (for lack of a better word).

You got it. I was hesitant to post this picture because the sample dress was a size 12, and I ordered it in a size 2, so there''s a major difference. I guess it is better than the model pic though. The beading/detail on my dress is champagne colored, as you can see.

I think you could definitely have it altered into a sweetheart neckline by a competent seamstress.

Beautiful dress! i''m no seamstress, but I bet it could be done.

You ordered it in a 2? I tried on a billion dresses and i''m a street size 4/6, and I fit into size 10 samples. Does Maggie Sottero run really big? I love the style of that dress! The way it hugs your waist and hips is very flattering!

Thanks! I don''t know if they run really big or not. I am a street size zero (mostly because I am so petite, 5''1") The sample was huge, but we laced the corset back really tight. I am shaped like a teenage boy (no defined waist) so this dress really helped to give me some shape.

I felt like all the Maggie dresses I tried on were very flattering, even though the samples didn''t quite fit. Plus, my budget was $3k for a dress, and I paid way less than a third of it for this dress. That was the kicker; more money for alcohol!

I am sure that could be altered into a sweetheart neckline.

What a beautiful dress!!

Yes, I don''t think it will be a problem to have it changed to a sweetheart, and I think it will be very pretty! I had my dress changed from a straight neckline to a sweetheart and added some cap sleeves. It''s amazing what they can do!!

I think it would be a really easy alteration to do. Personally though, I love the *hint* of sweetheart neckline that your dress has. Maybe you could have them just accentuate that?
