I have a pair of .70ctw diamond studs set in Stuller three prong martini settings. My earlobes are quite small and thin. I like to wear my earrings 24/7 and when I do, the posts poke into the side of my head. Also, I have to wear the backs quite tight on them or they droop down a bit.

Does anyone have any suggestions on ubercomfortable mountings that are very plain/neutral and would be appropriate for smaller stones? Thanks.

Are the martinis sinking in too far? Could you go for more of a basket setting? I was going to suggest shortening the posts as well.

That''s probably the easiest option.

probably so - I have similar studs in a martini setting and they hardly bother me ever - I sleep with them in too
shortening the posts will probably be the easiest and best solution

I''m sorry they''re bothering you!

I think you need to just abandon them and send them to me.

If the backs poke you could have the posts shortened a bit, or have some covered backings made, depending on how big your lobe holes are and how much you want to spend. They''re infinitely more comfortable.

If they''re drooping try the little plastic discs that you slip behind your ear before you screw/push the backings on - they really do work!

If they martinis are sinking in too far (I had this problem).. here''s one kinda hokey but uber-cheap fix: I had my local jeweller make basically two really thin jump rings in the same karat gold as my studs. I just slip them onto the head before I wear them, and they stop the heads from sinking too far into the lobe hole - kinda like pseudo-basket-backs, and they''re small enough in circumference that you can''t see them from the front.

here''s what I mean by covered backs

I just sent my studs in to WF this morning so no photos, but here's a paintjob of what I mean with the jump rings:

I see. Thanks yssie. I don''t think I could do the covered backs though because threaded posts rip the heck out of my ear holes.
