So.... I finally found the cord to my camera, and I can finally upload pictures!!! It''s been 2 months already!
First of all - Greg''s proposal was just wonderful... we went to the beach for the weekend... which he made me believe was all my idea. He even bought a new bathing suit with pockets in it! That, combined with the fact that he was *voluntarily* missing 4 World Cup soccer games should have clued me in... But, I had no idea.
While at the beach, he got on his knee and told me how much he loved me - then asked me to marry him!

After getting home from the wonderful weekend, I gave it a few days - and then got on PS. I had read the message board a while back while helping a friend look for a diamond - so, I knew you''d all be helpful. Within minutes of posting it seemed, I had several good candidates to look at. I contacted Whiteflash and James Allen, and both were very helpful in suggesting possible candidates. Honestly, I took the "Diamonds for Dummies" approach, and quickly selected the WF ACA. I probably would have loved to take a trip up to GOG, and over to James Allen to look at some good diamonds in person... but, quite frankly, I was just being lazy, anxious to make a decision, and ready to get something pretty on my finger.

My selection is here: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/i-made-a-decision.47078/ or http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/diamond_Details.aspx?itemcode=AGS-7340407
Greg was not really a part of the whole diamond buying experience, other than giving me a budget and selecting 18K yellow gold. We went to two B&M''s together, and he thought all the diamonds looked the same. The disinterest didn''t bother me - he had already given me something very special and symbolic to him... and, just wanted something nice in terms of a ring.
Overall, the whole process went very smoothly, and I''m super satisfied with my ring. Several people have commented on how nicely it''s cut - and most think that it''s larger than .81c. While I love the really traditional setting, if I could do it over again, I might pick something a little different - more along the lines of a Locke, or a Vatche Royal Crown, or something totally hand fabricated. But, I really like this setting too!
I took the ring to Martin Fuller for an appraisal ($175) which was a good experience as well. He said that I picked a very nice diamond... and, in fact, he''s seen more great diamonds over the last few years (due to the internet) than he''s seen total in all of his 25-30 years of appraising stuff. Overall, it appraised lower than the Whiteflash independent appraisal (by around $1000) but higher than what I paid for it (by around $1000).
I''m thinking along the lines of a plain gold band for my wedding ring. Believe it or not, because of the slight curve on the shank, the e-ring is kinda hard to match. (but, I''m being sort of picky...!) With that said, I found a perfect one at a B&M down the street from my office.
Now - my next project is to pick out some great wedding jewelry. Mind you - I haven''t even picked out the wedding dress or colors yet. I think I have been bitten by the PS bug. haha.
