Hi,
I got engaged in June and have had my E-ring since then. I noticed at the weekend that the stone now moves a little bit in the setting if I touch it, like it twists around a couple of millimetres in the prongs (there are 4). This definitely did not happen when I got it.
Why is this? I am very careful with it and take it off to put on hose and when I am cleaning etc.

Congrats on getting engaged; take it to a jeweler quick so they can tighten it and check the prongs. Not sure why it happens maybe it wasn''t tight enough?

I probably won''t be able to get to a jewellers before next week. Do you think the diamond might fall out before then?

Anything is possible, I wouldn''t wear it until you get a pro look at it, it is unlikely the stone will fall out but there is a possibility, so I would not wear it to be on the safe side.

Don’t wear it until you get it checked out by a pro.

Especially if the diamond is spinning in the setting you are at risk but any movement can cause trouble. Gold and platinum are pretty soft materials and diamonds make for a pretty good saw. This combination is not good. You can literally saw the tips right off of your prongs.
