My soon to be 1.198, L SI1 from Union Diamond, what to you think? I did not know that it was a H&A diamond until today, an added bounus. Any reason not to get this diamond? I am already in love with it. My boyfriend, who knows nothing about diamonds, approved of the pictures because they were pretty. :)

Looks good, just that the IS image setup seems to be off.

Tara - its a beauty, well done!!!

Correct HCA. Thanks for comments. And even more so all the advice and tips along the way. I will be sure to show pictures when I get the diamond and ring, but that won''t be until 2010, as my boyfriend will be getting the ring, and gets to choose when I get it. :)

Good!

The diamond costs 3800 minus 200 for PS Wire. Good price for an L SI1, 1,19???

I think so, thats a lot of diamond for the money!

My friend, who just went through the whole diamond shopping process herself, has my diamond. I am in Norway, and will pick it up in a couple of months. We agreed should would examine it, and comment on whether or not she thinks I should keep it. She was concerned it looked shallow, based on the numbers above, do you think I should worry about depth? She said it did look "shiny" and "white"..

No. The IS said it all.

Thanks, now if only I could commit to a setting...

Pretty stone!

NO. It is not shallow at all! This is a super diamond with excellent numbers, there is nothing wrong with it at all, please don't let a great stone go listening to a friend who has only bought one diamond and probably doesn't know what to look for.

Well I do think that visual appearance (by a friend with very similar tastes and some knowledge of diamonds) is important along with IS and numbers, but I am keeping the stone...now it''s just finding the perfect setting.... I think I have what I want but I am not sure... I tried on the ring below, but maybe I want something simpler like this setting like this

Of course the visual appearance is hugely important, I just don't understand why your friend was saying the diamond is shallow and looks as if it is when it is not, the depth is fine and the proportions excellent. So from this I am concerned that your friend might not be sure of what she is looking at when she says the stone looks shallow. But if you are keeping the stone then thats ok. ECF's setting is gorgeous, you could definitely go for something like that.

Union wants 1500 to make the ring in the picture. In palladium with .3k sides stones, do you think this is an appropriate price? I tried to get a price comparison with B&G and a local jeweler in Minnesota, and have not gotten responses, and am leaning towards just going with Union, but I have no idea to judge if it is a good price or not.
