My dad fell and broke his ribs

I'll remember that. Thanks, Kaleigh! :wavey:

hope your dad heals quickly; you are a good son looking out for him

I broke a rib doing jui jitsu a few years ago. It was quite painful for a few weeks, bit didn't need any special treatment--I just wasn't allowed to do exercises where I had to support myself with my upper body (ex: push ups, yoga). I was basically told to take it easy and take advil for pain. I think that unless the ribs are so broken that there is danger of a sharp edge doing damage to the organs, it's one of those injuries left to heal on it's own. I have a small bone callous where the bone healed, and sometimes where my rib attaches to my sternum (near where the break was) "cracks", but other than that I have no lasting effects.

I guess by now you know what the spot on the lung is, but if he fell on his back hard enough it could be a bruise. If I had more patience I would read the rest of the thread--I'm terrible!!!

It's so worrying to have a loved one in the hospital. I hope all is well now!!!!

Skippy and tuffyluvr, thanks. :wavey:

Sending healing dust to your dad!!!

heraanderson, thanks. :))

DUST for a speedy recovery

Danny, how's he doing?

My grandpa is recovering from 4 broken ribs from a recent truck accident. It takes 9 weeks or so. There's nothing they can do to ease it besides pain killers. Does your mom have anyone to help her with getting him up and down? That's been the worst part with my grandfather (though he is a bigger man). I'm sorry for your father and what you all are going through and I hope he heals quickly!

I haven't had an update but I imagine if anything worsened or anything unexpected happened my mom would have called. I hate to think about him in pain though. How dreadful.

Thanks Danny. He's back to work now, but still has trouble with lower sitting seats and some achy days. :wavey:
