Well, for those of you who knew, we had adopted an adorable black 7-month-old kitten in April/May and he died in a tragic accident over the summer. My son wanted another black cat, so we found one and after we moved, we brought him home the day after we moved to our new place. We were so anxious to get a cat, I paid the pet deposit before even sure we'd adopt that particular kitty we'd picked out on Craig's List. He was 3.5 months when we got him. . .super cute little guy. Now he's about 5 months old.

This morning I was holding him and he kept licking and pawing at his face and so I opened his mouth and his tooth was dangling out!!! lol I called two vets to verify that kittens do indeed loose baby teeth because I had no idea this happens. I have only adopted one other kitten under 5 months and that was years and years ago and don't recall this happening.

My kids will be waiting anxiously for the toothfairy's gift in the morning. . .

Awwwww!

That is cute.

I saw this thread and remembered all of you cat troubles and was horrified that you had another kitty you'd welcomed into your family having health problems..... I'm so glad it is a kitten losing baby teeth!

Aw!! Yeah, they do lose their baby teeth. You may find a few around the food dish, too! That's where I found our kitty's!

That is sooo cute! We've adopted so many kittens and we've never been lucky enough to catch it falling out! Take a picture of it! :)

Ah yes, baby kitteh teeth...my 7 mo. old has finally stopped spitting out his baby teeth all over the house. His upper & lower canines gave him the most trouble. The baby teeth were still there alongside the full grown adult fangs. He had 8 fangs for a couple of days. Looked goofy but very cute.

I never found any of my kitties' teeth. But I did find 1 doggy baby tooth.

What does the tooth fairy leave for kitties when they lose their teeth?

Aww baby teeth! I have two baby teeth that I found on the floor that I've kept and saved (crazy cat lady mom, that's me!). They're in my jewelry box, haha. I freaked out when I saw the first one, but I went and read online that it's totally normal, and most cats just swallow them (especially since some fall out while they're eating and it just gets caught up in the food and down the hatchet it goes).

That is so cute!!!

I've had 4 cats and never found any of their baby teeth when they were little kittens! The vet told me that many times they end up swallowing their little loose teeth. :))

I'm sorry to hear about your kitten you lost! :blackeye:

Awww, cute. I didn't realize my kitten was teething until his breath was just super stinky! Then he seemed to really enjoy releasing some of that pain(some blood) onto my gray sweater. Now he's so fierce without those kitten teeth!

My dog did that too, and the teeth were so tiny! We freaked out like no other thinking we gave him food that caused it and that we would end up with a dog that would never be able to chew anything. Called all of our friends, called the vet and researched the internet to find out that it happens. (Probably should have done it in a different order) :)

Yeah, I know. . .I was wondering how a kitten would be able to handle a life with having teeth missing! lol

Last night, I picked him up so I could show my DH but the tooth had fallen out. Looked all around his food dish, even looked through his dry food, but alas no sweet little tooth. When my kids had gotten home from school, I tried to show them but kitty wouldn't cooperate and my kids became concerned that opening the cats mouth was uncomfortable for him. They're such great kids and are very watchful that he's always safe/comfortable.

My older son was most traumatized by our previous kitty's accident and luckily our new one sleeps with him at night so that's help tremendously!
