SHOOK and SWAYED as if I were on a swing! The blinds were slightly swinging and it moved me in my chair. I''m only about 60miles North of NYC and the 5.5 Magnitude earthquake that hit Canada just shook us ALL the way down here.
Wow. I hope all in Canada are alright.![]()
Right. So either you're calling me a fibber or implying I'm insane. It's ok, I've been called worse. Read the article...Date: 6/23/2010 3:57:47 PM

I'm 10 miles south of Boston and I didn't feel anything and I'm not in a high rise. NEL, I think those folks are imagining things....now, the wait is on for a phone call from the MIL who lives in Central NY.
Actually, my first thought was maybe it was a nuclear bomb. Doh! I was upstairs and I actually got vertigo, my tv was rattling but I couldn''t hear anything. We live very close to the train track so I thought it was a long train except it lasted too long and I''ve never gotten dizzy from that before. This is my second experience, first one was when we lived in BC. I''m pretty slow to react I guess.Date: 6/23/2010 4:19:19 PM

I am sure there was panic in Toronto initially, thinking it was related to sabotage of the G-20 or something! They have locked that place down like a fortress apparently.
I think the epicentre itself was in Quebec.
I'm not sure I see how you think that, I wasn't talking about feeling the quake in Canada, I know the event was real. I'm talking about feeling it in Boston, which NEL and I are in close proximity to.Date: 6/23/2010 4:34:03 PM

All the buildings around me were evacuated.![]()
ETA: I'm in a 4 story building ... no high rise by any means.
My MIL felt...nothing! She was walking to the Loblaws and couldn''t figure out what the fuss was all about when she entered the store. Someone had to tell her abou the tremors! I suppose you can''t feel a tremor this size on hard concrete?Date: 6/23/2010 9:45:44 PM

I''m in Ottawa and was on the top floor of a 7 storey building when the earthquake hit. It felt like a low rumbling for 5 to 10 seconds, then it started to build and I knew it had to be an earthquake. The floor really started to sway and roll, made me squeal like a baby! and the bank of windows I could see from my window had reflections that were waving wildly, that''s how much the building was swaying..then it settled back for low rumbling for another 10 - 15 seconds.
We were evacuated, then given the all clear to return and finally 1/2 hour later told to leave for the day....Gotta love the feds.
