My bird passed away

Aww Beacon, I am so sorry to hear that. It is always so tough to lose our pets. If you want to come to Wisconsin and visit my dogs and cat would be happy to shower you with love and kisses.

Bless you all for your kind words and understanding. I had an embarrassing moment at my work when I went in today and the front desk staff asked me how I was and I began to choke up some. They didn''t know about Tajj, so I told them. It comes and goes, I get sad when I don''t expect it.

I talked to the vet today and he will do a necropsy at no charge. I am emotional about it, but I think I will do it, just to be certain about what happened to him. Then I can decide about how to handle his remains. It''s really awful. I may want them to cremate him and give me his ashes. After that, not sure.

I am definitely going to make a memorial contribution to a bird related charity in his honor. He deserves that.

I am beginning to accept that he is gone, but it is so hard not to have him here when I come home so we can ''chat''. My only happiness, if I can call it that, is that he did not have a protracted period of ill health. He was quite fine up til the last couple of days. Beyond that he never had a sick day in his life.

Thank you so much for your kindness and good thoughts. I know sometimes people might not understand how hard it can be to lose a pet, and what a big part of your emotional life they can occupy. Tajj was a super special friend. I appreciate and thank each one of you for your comments. They help a lot.

I am so glad you posted tonight, I have been thinking about you all day. I told my hubby, Rick about Tajj last night and he also felt so sad.

I know you live in the bay area and are not far from me. I hope we can meet sometime. I would love for you to come to our house and meet my Taco. He is a talker and will give you lots of kisses. He will ask you to give him a bath too. He would make you smile again, I am sure.

Aw, Beacon, I''m so sorry to hear about Tajj''s passing. We once had a beautiful bird that looked a lot like Tajj, and he was a very valuable member of our family. He was ill for only a short time before he passed away from cancer at about 12 years of age. At one time he had been the Grade 6 pet in our daughter''s class, and since he had visited us for many weekends, the teacher asked us if we''d adopt him while she went back to school. We were thrilled!!

It''s remarkable that some birds have way more personality than people we''ve known.

I got the results of his autopsy back. It was liver cancer that got him. Apparently a very fast moving type of cancer too. It is such a mystery as to why this happened. Scary that it could go so quick.

I miss him so much. It is terribly quiet here in the house without his vibrant personality. I thank you again for all you kind words and thoughts. They cheer me up a lot.

We had a talking bird when I was growing up and it was my mother''s joy. I remember when he died and how devastated she was. I still remember just how he used to lift his leg when he was chattering and how happy he made my mom. So I know how you feel and I''m so sorry.
