I decided that I wanted to do a little stacking set of prong set rings, since I literally own almost no prong set rings. My goal is to use three small gems, about size 5 mm - the plan is to do a blue Ceylon sapphire (which I need to find), a tsavorite (which I have picked out already), and this little mahenge, which is the first one completed :)

I lucked out with this little baby. It's the perfect size for this project, 5.5 mm, .85 carats. It is perfect for this open prong setting as there are no windows and the color is just beautiful, it needs no help from a setting to look great - which is what I am looking for for this project.

This one is definitely nicer than the pair I had bezel set, so I'm posting pics of that pair for comparison. I am really happy with this little baby. This is one of those gems that looks so pretty, it looks fake, lol - you know what I mean?

These are all indirect sunshine pics:

My indoor lighting pics don't do this gem any justice - there is little to no color shift, it looks the same to me in either lighting. Not sure why my pics didn't pick it up, but oh well.

I'm really enjoying wearing it, but I won't feel complete until I get the other two rings made to join this one, lol.

Wow that's a little firecracker! I can't wait to see the complete set.

A beauty! Perfect with the setting too. I agree with you that it's better color & saturation than the bezeled ones. Your color scheme sounds really great.

Its just a beauty - glowing!! and the YG really punches up the colour. I think it looks fantastic w the pair of open bezel rings- that's a neat idea!

I knew this was technically a better quality mahenge than my pair, but it's fun to be able to compare them and really see the difference. It's more obvious in person too.

The color scheme - greens and blues are my favorite colors and what I typically almost always buy in gems. But I love the mahenges as well, so I hope the three look good together. I think even if they don't look great to everyone else I won't really care, bc they'll look good to me, since they're my favorite colors. But hopefully it will be a pretty combo. I'm a bit worried about the mahenge and the dark green tsav reminding me of Christmas colors, but I think the blue sapphire should help with that.

Thank you! I just love mahenges in yellow gold. I've seen some set in white gold and it doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as the YG does. But then I'm biased, I prefer YG or RG about 90% of the time anyway :)

You're making me want to set my hot pink spinels!!!! Not fair!

Love the new ring!!

Sweet. At least your combo isn't a traffic light set of red, orange and green. Since these are going to be stackers, I was wondering, if for comfort's sake, whether setting the stone much lower will easier to wear. The stone / basket seems quite high in the profile view. Almost all the stackers I see on PS are very low set.
