Yeah DF,

My daughter took the camera.

Tell your daughter to come home and bring the camera back. We've been waiting a long time!

WHEW! I'm so relieved.
I was afraid you'd think it sucks and send me the bill, since I forced you to buy it.

I wish I could play with your precious and take some artsy fartsy pics.
Loose Octavias are my quintessential photographic muse.
Fly me up.
I'll bring my gear.
You need to retire that cheap-watch avatar.

Has Mrs. Dancing Fire seen it, or is it still a secret from her?
If she's seen it, has she killed you or stolen it yet? :Up_to_something:
How does the sparkly-ness compare to her round? (asschers aren't supposed to come anything near an ideal-cut round)

WWP. Get photos up pronto.

Jon will send you the bill.

She haven't seen it yet..

I hope not!

I have not compare them yet. I'm sure the Octavia will kick some A$$... :wink2:

Oh yeah, if she doesn't know you got a new one then you can't exactly get to her diamond without raising suspicions. :naughty:

Does it look larger or smaller than you expected?

How was the experience compared to buying an off-the-shelf diamond?
IOW, would you commission another Octavia to be cut for you, or do anything differently?

at first it look large but then here comes DSS. TBH I'm fine with this 7.4mm stone but I wouldn't mind sporting a 7.7mm...
Your other two Q I would need time to think it over before I can give some honest answers.

Can't wait to see pics! :appl:

39 will let more light into and out of the diamond, and block less of your view ... a very good thing considering what diamonds cost.

IIRC, you can tell Gelin Abaci how much you want the diamond's table to extend above the metal, if at all.
Same with the metal on the side of the ring that could protect, or not protect, the girdle.
Besides affecting the diamond's protection and the appearance of the ring, these two choices will affect how much light gets in and out, and how much of your diamond the setting allows you to see.

Kenny this is GA's comment on the subject...

Due to the unique process of our tension settings the crown of the diamond cannot be exposed where it will jeopardize the safety.

The diamond will be set fairly similar to the store sample with taking into account the size of the diamond being set.

Kind Regards,

Abe

Thanks for the update DF. :wavey:

Sounds like you got a "canned" response from a customer service rep, so it seems a phone call would be more informative. I'd be interested in hearing if there's a reason -- beyond a lower price -- they prefer a palladium 500 alloy over a palladium 950 one. Easier to work with and/or resize if need be?

If GA is using a proprietary alloy from, e.g., Hoover & Strong, they won't be able to give you the precise composition of the alloy, but the copper content probably isn't nearly as high as 25%.

FWIW my Dupont fountain pen is lacquer and palladium & I love it, think the palladium would show off your Octavia to great advantage :sun:

Oops, I meant to post this in response on your other thread -- my apologies!

I didn't ask about the alloys they use in their palladium settings.

Love, love love these...lucky you!
