Wedding Multiple receptions...need help and ideas

I was married in a small vegas ceremony in April, this summer we are having two receptions, one in CA one in NY. How do I make the receptions seem like an event, since there is no ceremony.
If anyone else did this, did you do an entrance? Toasts? A blessing? What did you wear?
I got great advice on this board about my Vegas site! Anyone have ideas about a Hamptons/Montauk clambake style reception?
