I''ve read some things about the MSID diamond... can any elaborate or confirm anything? Does it only come in RB? Is it really bigger than the typical diamond of the same size? Is the fire that much better? Thoughts???

From the little information available at the site where you link to I would say that it is a very shallow cut diamond in order to keep the weight down and the spread up. The crown certainly looked very shallow in the video. Also the diamond did not appear to have a lot of sparkle, although the Gemex report showed three bars in the very high. They claim that this is the brightest of all diamonds, but I have seen several diamonds that pegged the very high, whereas this sample report had three in the very high, but none of them were pegged.

As many people here know, I am NOT a fan of the gemex device, it has been tried and found not worthy by both AGS and GIA for repeatability and reliability issues, but if you are going to use it to claim that your diamond is the brightest diamond ever cut, then it should certainly be pegged at the top of the very high categories.

I suspect it may be a very nice looking diamond, and that you will have the dickens of a time if you ever want to resell it.

Very Helpful! Thanks for saving me the trouble!

I would suggest staying away from the Robbin''s Bros. mark-up and going with a more traditionally cut stone. The increase is diameter (apparent size) is not enough to offset the mark-up and loss of light performance in my opinion. I''m from the Houston area with a RB store nearby and have seen many of their MSIDs in my friend''s engagement rings. They are a pretty stone, but don''t have the same light return as other stones I''ve seen from WhiteFlash/Hearts on Fire (and probably GoG, etc.).
